anyone a carpet fitter?
as in a proper carpet fitter who can fit a carpet to another bit of carpet that's had a chop chopped out of it?

it's a 2 square metre rectangular section in the middle of the wall where the chimney used to be

i've had quotes starting from £100 and then they fo up, simply because the fitters work in teams of 3 and have to lay x amount of footage a day, so if there is a problem it might end up costing me lots more

seems that these folk would make it cheaper if i bought a whole room full of carpet, which i don't erally need, or want

Really straight forward bud, line up the carpet, place the seamer tape under the join(its got a line down the middle for each half of the join) slowly run the iron down the tape ,roller the join as you do it job done.
I take it the carpet is new?

Thats just greed mate, if there's 3 of them 1 can be dropped off to do it then picked up when finished while the other 2 go prep the next job. It doesnt take 3 to seam up not 2 even.

i'v got the old carpet and the new carpet sort of on top of each other at the mo and other than the direction of the fibres being wrong, it's identical

i did upstairs by simply cutting a bit big enough to wedge in, and as it' sth ekids room and the bed is going to be on it, it's not really a problem, but this is the main room and the bit where everyoens's going to see, even though it'll be covereed mainly by theunit that holds the sky etc i just want ot to be right rather than make do

as for being greedy, that's what i thought which is why i was wondeirng how much it would cost to do and what sort of time scale it would take even the oldest and creakest fitter to do

right if the pile runs wrong way, it'll look shit mate.
As for time i'd say 20 mins including a cup of tea
Price up here anywhere between £25-£50(max) for a good job.

got to agree thats a better price seeing as most of my work is in Bath and people here are loaded i would not charge anymore than £40.London must be a different way of working though to be fair Travel must be a nightmare not to mention parking.
Teams of 3 sounds weird though unless one is a gimp who spends all day hovering and cleaning after the other 2 people

Right, as said if the pile direction is not gonna be going the same way it will stand out like a sore thumb. Esp. if the carpet has been down for 4 yrs, this is why your quotes have been so high, no fitter will want to do it as they won't want to say it'll look shite.

I would price it as a min charge job at £35, but im in dorset not the big smoke.

My best bit of advice would be find yorself a nice bit of furniture to put there tbh or its time for a new peice for the room.
