Ditto the above.

Always keep firefox updated though, go to "help" and then click "check for updates"

Yes I'd agree with that, at the first sign of an issue, always purchase a brand new product to get through the problem.

After all who needs to spend 5 minutes looking into the issue and fixing it when they can simply go out and spend a few hundred quid on a decent laptop.

You sir are a genius, I'm going to suggest you to my old boss as a potential candidate for employment there. IT support for BAE Systems. I feel you may revolutionise the industry with your thinking!

That is based on a recent conversation with the business manager of the MOD IT support infrastructure, and the opinion of my other half, who is a Website design and Spinal Tap Project co-ordinator.

The short time I used it, I found it slow and buggy compared to IE.

Rich Im also a web developer who has worked for some major clients and I can safely say most developers worth their salt slate IE at the first given opportunity.

IE 6 is prob the most worst browser ever.

IE 7 & 8 arent that bad but not as good as Firefox and definately not as secure.

Also, if you look at the trends you will find IE is losing more and more of its market share. Wont be long until FF has caught up and is then calling all the shots

I understand what you are saying mate. At the end of the day its down to personal opinion really. Since I first started using the internet IE has never, ever given me a single problem, so why would I want to use anything else?

I tried firefox, and it wouldn't let me log in to anything, it wouldn't show some websites properly and you click the submit reply button on here for example and it would freeze. I use it on my mum's laptop every now and then, she gets on fine with it but I don't like it one bit.

As I said, its all down to personal opinion, so I'll stick with IE, I'll recommend it to anyone and I will advise against firefox!

Mr T - can't really help. Is it just taking ages to display the post after you submit a reply? Weird problem, and strange that it affects Firefox and not IE. Using latest Firefox 3.5.2 ?

You're entitled to your opinion though

As a web designer I can assure you that Firefox is *miles* better than Internet Explorer as far as web standards compliance is concerned and in actually rendering a web page correctly. Any web designer will tell you the same.
We spend hours trying to fix/hack things so that they display properly in Internet Explorer 6, 7 & 8. Whereas you can safely assume that Firefox will just do everything properly, straight off.

But the actually user interface is personal opinion.
I recommend Firefox to everyone and strongly advise against IE.

Steve

From your point of view, maybe, but from my point of view, maybe not.

As I said in a post here, the people I have spoke to who know about this sort of stuff from a technical point of view recommend IE and wouldnt recommend firefox.

Swings and roundabouts though eh!
