Default Just want to say thankyou to everyone RS1600i

Have finally made the painfull decision to let the Rsi go. shes on flea bay now.

So just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who supported me and some who kindly donated hard to find parts which never come up for sale as they were never kept when breaking the old mk3s, pipes and clips and bits

And to Dan at fast ford who we were in the early stages of a mag feature on the car. Seriously gutted about aborting this oppertunity now, so sorry for this.

Ive had over 40,000 hits on the car and it just goes to show how well the pf community pulled me through that hard and gutting time with the car and the fire.

So really thank you guys and girls for all your kind words and support, ambition and passion for this fine marque of car.

Thanks

A mixture of things really

1. I physically dont have enough time

2. Im now running a second business restoring cars so space is limited, and ideally the Rsi need to sit out side now so i have more room in the workshop, and I cant be happy watching it sitting there in the elements

3. Ive simply lost all intrest in the car, it was a massive task re-rebuilding it and ive finally got to that point where I just have no intrest left at all.
I did mention selling about a month back and everyone convinced me to stick with it, and im glad I did as its now running and pretty much finished. But Ive really had to be realistic. Ive spent abt best part of Ł5000 now and I dont even have a passion for the car anymore.
Its time to cut my losses so to speak, and pass on a bargin to someone who can give it a good home and look after it.

(and 4. Im still getting over the cheque for my tax bil I wrote last month, so a nice wedge of notes will make me forget all about this )

yeh I know, this one was always meant to be a keeper, hence why I spent well over Ł2000 just on the engine and getting it to original and "new" specs.

But I am flat out with work, I have the 67 beetle resto, and the 3door cos requiring a full strip down and rebuild. Also any spare time i seem to have im notmally fixing the landrovers, the golf, the aston, timkering with bikes, cleaning and painting the aeroplane or working on my mates old camper van.

I sadly can't see anyother reason for keeping it, especially now the passion for the car is gone due to the history we have together

Like I said its an easy good bargin for someone, and best of all its another RS saved(........all be it twice in 6 months )

Its quality not quantity. We dont like to live in each others pockets.

As we are both self employed, and also work from home some times we see each other pretty much all week at any time, rather that some who just see each other from 5pm to 6am. If we both fancy going out one afternoon or what ever we can, dont have to squeeze it all in to the weekend. so much of a muchness really I guess.

Is she into the motors too or does she just let ya get on with it?

Work from home? I take it you don't do hands on then? Lads working for you? I couldnt do it, no matter how big or succesful my business goes(hopefully) dont think ill ever come off the tools! Dont get me wrong, we've got some subbies working on another extension for us at the mo, but we are building another at the same time, i couldn't not do the hands on!

Not much work from home really, but its is getting that way, im still mostly on the tools. its just most of my work is very local (ie in the village) or no more than 10 miles away. so im often popping home or passing through, or chilling/recovering

I cant stand not looking back at the end of the day and not being able to "see" what ive achieved, hence why I go like a bat out of hell most of the time. then have a few days at home to recover

Mrs is into cars, but is very selective Im buying her a TT to replace the Mk5 GT Golf, so she has expensive tastes

Comment yesterday was im glad your finally getting rid of the shonky escort its sooo old and embarrasing

Shame you're not holding onto it mate, have been following the re-re-build thread with interst and was looking forward to seeing on the road, an enthusiast will buy it and it's not the last we'll see of her i'm sure!

Also, makes a nice change to see a well written eBay ad!

To be honest im not that impressed with the mk5 golf, had it just over a year now and still dont feel "comfortable" in it, thats why im selling this also.

Dont get me wrong amazing car, but I prefered our Mk4 Gt tdi, it was more of a drive and such a clean clean car. The Mk5 is 10 times better quality and improved, but has lost the feel and some of the crude charms the old one had, if that makes sence?

Also did some research found out the golf is still worth around 7-7.5k much more than id thought, so a TT is really just a straight swap pretty much.

Anyway one thing at a time, Im waitng for the escort to go before I do anything with the golf.

We actually live out side the village in an old farm property, so are pertty isolated from the village. Nearest neighbour is about 1/2 mile away

Its an old north essex village, has been a small market "town" since 1256. With a monestary and abby dating back to around 1200.

Started as a saxon settelment, and then romans settled, there are still the old roman aqua duct drains that are still visible and working.

Any tresspassers or non locals dont fare well in these parts

The village is also built on ley lines, so funny things happen here also!

And there is now a flower bed in the triangle where the 3 lines cross, this is where they used to hang and execute people also.

There are about 300 listed buildings here like this

The church were we got married

My cossie out side the pub

Out side our house (house is behind trees) and me going like a bat out of hell

Half way between ours and our neighbour

And our neighbours house

Love villages like that Lee! Looks nice! How long you lived in that house then? DARN SARF it must have set you back a few quid, a sign of business doing well i suppose We keep talking about moving somewhere quieter, perhaps not a remote as that lol but then we like being in walking distance of the town centre where we live! So unsure!

Some one text me last night said they wanted to view today, but so far have been a no show.

I even spent an hour washing it this morning especially. It gets dirty in about 2 hours here as the shit from the harvests of the fields this time of year are a nightmate.

Looked soooo nice after a clean I even thought about pulling the add from ebay. but I really cant. I need to move on. In fact working on this 3door and seeing the old pics of my escort cos, makes me want another one .
Must Must resist, my wife would kill me, I promised her no more fords (for the forseable future).

Bid is still at Ł1800. I dont think its going to move all week. Im hoping it will shoot up in the last 20 mins.

I cant let her go for less than Ł2k, shes worth far far more. I could probably break her for Ł3000 easily.

Never get another cossie, and I dare say I have no plans to buy another ford for at least a few years!
