How many people have run 400bhp cossie daily without problems?
I do recall a few people saying they used their cars everyday with 400bhp without running into problem or very little problems.
If yes, did you encounter problems? Massive or Minor?
I ask mainly due to my mate running his Saph with about 390/410bhp and is always hitting problems. At the moment its off road as it melted a spark plug. But could it be the engine build (I don't know who built it but it wasn't a big name tuner that's for damn sure) hasn't been done correctly?

not a question that can be answered yes or no........it's like using any "old" car daily, daft things break and when ur running twice the power the car's ment to be unless u "uprate" every fucking thing at once.....shit is going to break...................

Well to be honest i don't see it as a major problem, it's all down to how you drive the car. Apart from fuel costs it shouldn't be any different than a standard car if you've got a standard engine with 400 bhp?
If you thrash it everyday back and forth then maybe you'll have issues, but if your in traffic then thats a whole different story. Alot is down to the driver, ot the car, I'd just be worried about fuel costs and that's it.

Never had any problems with reliabilty with the cosworths i have owned,if the car has been built right and you maintain it properly you shouldnt get any problems
Take it to a expert at least once a year for a full check, and i changed all the oils and plugs every 6months and every time used on track

Its is the driver of a 400bhp everyday cossie reliable.
Drive it with respect and there are no worries, if your driving it like you stole it evry 5mins then expect the engine to be out buy xmas.

Why do people always say it the engine builders fault.
Melted spark plug could well be the car not been mapped wisley enough, but at the end of the day, like I just said.
ITS THE DRIVER most probably!

melting a spark plug can be down to using the wrong spark plugs. Or running lean. Tell him to use some decent plugs like denso iridium plugs or some 071s and get the on boost afr checked before he loses an engine!

Which is why when i buy my 2nd Escos next year Jan/Feb time i'm going to sit down and do my research on what i want and get the help of experienced people to see if what i've put down on paper would work and if not, why not? I'm not ashamed to admit that i don't know alot but i rather not know then make a cock out of myself and just say yes when i'm asked if i understand. I'm willing to learn.
I'm trying to talk him into going to see someone who can Diagnose the problem and get it sorted. MADevelopments are the closest so i'm gonna try send him there to get Mark to cast his eyes on the Engine. Would go to Power Engineering but those guys are cocks. They tried to make me think that the engine in my Escort RS Turbo needed a Rebuild when i had just bought the car in standard form with 46k on the clock. Took it to another tuner and they said there is nothing wrong with it.
But like i said, if i'm gonna tune mine to the 400bhp mark then there are only 3 people i will let build my engine and i base this strictly on good word from people, seen the work and know that they won't dick customers about. Harvey Gibbs, MAD and Reyland

I do 600-800 a week some weeks in mine, and I thrash the shit out of it.
Apart from having this it has sessions on the rollers some 6 hours at a time(every so often), and has 160,000 miles on it, well the bottom end, done the top end/turbo.
Just bought a tow bar to tow me dads new caravan so even more work.
As with anything car related bits are some 20 years old, and there is so much to a car a tiny failure can wreak havoc, mine just has a appetite for oil, fuel no problem but oil is.

as tabatha says, mine is 450bhp with 90% of the right bits on there and it will drive everywhere but the oil use is a joke probly Ł5-Ł10 worth of oil to every Ł50 fuel, dont sound that much but i use the car as a toy, but surpose you did Ł50 fuel a week to work and back that Ł200 a month on fuel and near on Ł30-Ł40 a month on oil!!
