Default DIY car spraying

I am doing a 306 gti6 as track car and want to paint it the same colour Blaze yellow.
I have a spray shop and decent compressor and gun at work and have painted boat parts before so I have the basic spraying technique.
I am after a fresh look but not bothered about show room condition as its only going on track and going to have 306 touring car decals.
I am after advice on the quickest way to do it?
what paint is easiest to use I was thinking about getting a match of 2 pack paint and not using lacqure (sp)
any advice

in all honesty 2k base coat is basically the same as cellulose base coat as it dry's by solvent evaporation. personally i'd clear coat it after if using a base coat.

better finish 2 pack wudnt use cellolose in a million years ,if you use a base coat u have to clear coat ,see if they do the yellow in solid colour ie no need for clear coat much easier

you mean 2k solid colour! yes it is far superior, but as i said 2k base and celly base are basically the same.

Yes buy a mask, 2k is lethal stuff

Sprayed mine yesterday.

Dont bother with clear coat, especially if your "new" to spraying.

Just buy gloss finish rather then base coat. (im guessing your using a solid colour)

Ratio is 2:1

So for a 306 you will need about 2ltrs paint ans 1 ltr hardener.

The sectet like with anything is the prep. For example I spent 5 days preping the bug, and it took an afternoon to spray.

Use high build primer as it will fill any smaller holes. wet and dry with 600 and 800, and wash down througherly. Dont make the primer "too shiny" or the paint wont stick.

Bigest piece of advise (apart from use a mask) is to stay clean, contamination be it grease on the car or shit in the air, will ruin your work in seconds.

Im guessing you know all about the 50/50 over lap.

Dont worry about baking, just roll the carout in to the sunshine, ive been told this is a better way to dry anyway as the paint will develop an even wetter finish than if it is force dried.

Just so happend i posted this last night so have copied and pasted it here for you.

If theres anything you need Ill try and help, but Im no way professional.

Wet and dry 400, 600 & 800 tedious but this it where the actual paint finish is made

3 liters of lotus white and 1.5 activator

Air fed mask

And also treaded my self to a new gun as my last one is well over 10 years old and past it. Got on really well with the new one. Just took some getting used to with the gravity as there no delay like mt old suction gun.

tack drying after hanger coat

Hanger coat cont...

And here she is in top coat

Been along day

What sort of compressor tank do you need to spray a car? Like how many litres holding tank?

A big bastard.

Now celly is basicaly obsolete, you cant get away with a little "hobby" compressor. Unless you buy the celly in the "preset" colours as i dont think there is anywhere now that will paint match celly.

Even tho they are phasing out 2k as well, its still gone be around for the god near future. ONLY PROBLEM IS YOU NEED AN AIR FED MASK.

This is the biggest factor in compressor size as its supprising how much air the mask uses, and you also loose a bit through the pressure regulator.

I dont know the size of mine will have to report back today, but it was about a Ł450 jobbie, bought it last year simply due to not being able to get celly anymore. And the is no way im using 2k with out protection as it really is dangerous stuff.

Filter is fine for celly, but not 2k.
