Learning a language . . .

Always been in my mind that i would retire abroad, possibly Spain. Mrs on about taking the kids there next year on hols so thought now would be a good time to learn Spanish. Anyone learned a language ? Do i go with books or learning CDs or what ? If so which ones ? Not got time for night classes and i'm the wrong side of 40 so i'd be too bloody embarrassed

i bought myself a teach yourself dutch book with cd's when i moved to holland but theres nothing to compare to being there and using the language to learn as you go as theres a lot of different sound use and regional variations just like here.

Depends where you live in Spain, down on the costa del sol they speak a slang ( Andulacian ) so wouldnt have a clue what you going on about speaking normal Spanish.
