GT35...on its way
Cant tell you the spec i went for (and yes i do know as i had to order it )....BUT its gonna be perfect for my specification....600 - 630bhp is the plan now on pump fuel and whatever on 116ron.I decided trying for 650 plus was too much in the way of power band as i am only reving to 8000rpm and a bigger turbo would need a 9000rpm limit...and that makes them very unreliable imo....its gonna be hard enuff as it is!..Plus i feel 600 - 630bhp on pump fuel will make a fairly quick road car and deffo a 200mph car with a long enuff road ..Brunters on race fuel but optimax map i reckon 190mph no probs...on race fuel map possibly 195mph.....but thats NMS style talk
Please you doubters keep coming forward as i am writing all your names down for if i pull this off i got a reserved for your asses

i dont see how you'd be able to do more speed with a revised map - 8000rpm is 8000rpm. if its 180mph at 500bhp, then its gonna be 180mph at 5000000bhpm unless i'm mistaken....
however, good luck with it Phil - I do genuinely hope you succeed.

Mike its called gearing ....More bhp ='s the ability to put taller gearing to pull 8000rpm thus making a higher top speed

why dont you just copy the spec of rod tarrys, seems like the sensible thing to do as it sounds like exactly what you want , takes away the guess work and it has proven itself beyond question

As said the only thing in common between Rods and my engine is the turbo!...and that is the identical specced.
The rest IS totally different and in a different costing league as my DIY is always based on budget...what you are gonna see next year is a 600+BHP BUDGET DIY engine up at the top amongst the VERY bling engines.
So Doug if it makes you feel cool to say my engine IS Rods spec then i have no probs ..as you are being red herring'd into thinking i am on big bling budget

MarkJ.....i only wish to build it...i have no interest in trying to drive beyond my capabilities to acheive a good top speed...that involves skill especially at Brunters and therefore Mike is the "man" for the job..and i mean that in an experience way as he is nowhere near a "real" man far from it..a girl with a cock best describes him ....i look past his driving accident record and the fact that he is currently being considered as the next accident test dummy for Skoda

Phil, Are you going to use the S8 ECU still ?
If so, I can offer a proper engine dyno session with an experienced mapper at a
VERY good price as you are doing this as a public exercise.
(Or you can use any other mapper you wish at this dyno)
The same dyno that MADRods engine was mapped on
At least then you would have confidence in the engines performance whilst the car is being driven fast !

torque lets you pull gearing... power or BHP is the amount of torque in a certian time span.

Porkie This is my own specced engine..full DIY baby!....What i am trying to acheive is a proper driving car off boost without all the pain in the arse to get out of a junction ..Then on hitting 4000rpm you enter what can only be described as "certain death" ...All top speed runs will HAVE to run race fuel!.......This aint your 1980's type build...its a 2005 build
I dont think there is any problems acheiving 600plus considering the turbo BUT its holding it together!..BTW Porkie....you stopped at 2bar didnt you on the dyno???...I may go 2.5bar for a laugh ...although i heard of issues in the 2wd manifold starting to restrict???

The issues you have 'heard' are clearly from Mike! Yes I reckon the 2wd manifold is pretty much at the limit. BUT thats my theory and I know NOTHING!
We only revved mine to 7500rpm at 2.2 bar on the Dyno. In hindsight, yes I REALLY do wish we have revved it alot higher but never mind. I don't think any more boost would have given any more power but it would have DEFINATLEY made more with higher revs. But don't forget I only wanted a solid 500bhp so anything over that was a bonus.... and as soon as I saw 600bhp I said STOOOOOP!!!!!
You should make over 600bhp with that Turbo easily if the Cams and head are right and I presume they will be. 190 should be on.
Why not drive it yourself... as Rod said he has done 198

Phil, Karl Norris has a mad power engine, revs really high and from what I saw of it, it is excellent off boost aswell, I think that was one of Karl's considerations when designing it. It can be done
Not sure he'd fancy telling you how tho
