Have you ever been asked to max any of these cars on the first or second run to save any undue stress on them,
I think the answer is no,
The reasons for these questions to let people understand what doing this realy means,
A clever person will understand that doing this takes a lot of experiance to do this as safely as it is possible to do this, To get in your car and try and do this within a couple of goes and get the car to max out is nearly impossible, I am still not comfortable in doing this as if I make a mistake or have a failier with any componant on the car could as a extreame mean death ,
I for one will be drawing to a end the topspeed attempts for this very reason,
This isnt a go at Simon but it is a attempt to make people understand why it is done this way, If everything was easy in Life we would all be doing it.

Mark, Rod,
I did say "I think I may be correct"....
It was not my intention to belittle both your efforts.
As I seem to be MAINLY wrong I stand corrected and appologise.
It was a comparision made to Phil/Mike about who drives his car.
Everytime I see Rods car doing the business Mark is driving !!
But I am not there every time so could not be 100% sure.
I understand what you are saying Mark about pushing the car to the limits
and being brave enough to do it. As for me, I have NO intersted in doing this myself !!!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT PHIL.
A couple of days after the Topspeed attempt , i had a blow out on the M3, was it coicidence that a couple of days earlier these apparently perfect tyres were subject to treatment well beyond any road tyres limits, 4 near 200 attemps & numerous full bore launches. in a car with 700+ horses. We will never know.
Problem is if we had used safer competition tyres the baying hoards would have accused us of cheating .

MORE FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
Things start to break at this level. im sure you will strengthen the gearbox & Diff, My uprated drive shaft broke at 40mph & it made a huge dent in the petrol tank , if the other one had gone it whould have severed the fuel lines . Yours are probably Standard & very old. At Speed your dead no doubts.
Also fit a Safety loop to the prop cos if that breaks you will flip the motor. Doing over 190 at Brunters aint a game Phil.

Rod i remember the picture of that drive shaft of yours, i think stuff like that people easily forget when they are just chasing flywheel bhp numbers rather than looking at the car as a whole.
(im not saying that is the case with you phil as i know nothing about you, im just talking about a lot of people in general that ive seen doing similar)

Hope you manage it Ima, I find this more interesting than a tuner built car with an unlimited budget. Still way out of my budget but if you are going to release your spec after you have done it, it would enable people like myself to see how a 600 bhp engine is built and maybe inspire a few more DIY'ers to get massive hp rather than just the people who have Ł000's

Heres a link for you.

fairly new though, so probably not generally available yet. This was the tyre that the 9FF Porsche did 231mph on
