Default Attention Electrical Gurus-

Hi guys,

After a bit of help with a headlight issue..

The passenger side lights work fine..

Drivers side not so good..

When I put the side lights on High beam & side lights comes on..

When I put main beam on it turns out the side light and high beam..

When I flash High Beam it does nothing..

Checked the fuses, wiring and connector at headlight, they all appear ok..

Any ides what it could be?

All advice appreciated..

Thanks Aaron

Have you checked the earths - sounds like it is earthing itself out via another bulb and illuminating that one too

Off the back of the headlight loom plug look for the brown wire - check this with a multimeter to a good earth point on the chassis - any resistance other than 0.01 ohm (the normal sort of resistance for old wires that have had a long life and ideally there should be no resistance) and there will be an issue - usually the earth point for the headlights is on the passenger side behind the headlight somewhere on the forward part of the inner wing near the chassis leg

As said sounds defo like earth, the connectors also give problems, I rewired it all on me dads 4i, made a world of difference, did it on my sapphy as well, puts the bulb failure warning light on, but can't be arsed to put in resistors, as doesn't bother me.

Do the QUICKEST thing first, run a temp earth from the battery to the headlight connector on the bulb itself, then you will know for certain whether it's the earth or not.
