Default Bloody migraines!

In agony lastnight for 2-3 hours, second time THIS WEEK

Dont know whats wrong, been doing the same things and eating the same.

I have been getting them for 2-3 years now i guess, but normally 5-6months apart.

Currently taking Zomig zolmitriptan(2.5mg) which dont even touch me, and i reckon there the reason why im sick every time i have a migraine, its a joke, you try having a full blown migraine and feeling sick at the same time

So those dont work, ive tried migraleve, and ibuprofen, and also i think i tried something else from the docs aswell which didnt work, hence why im now on the Zomig

So i think another trip to the doctors next week to see what other shit they can sell me for £7-8

I never drink water alone, but i normally have a good few glasses of squash a day i suppose.

Put it this way, whenever im thirsty or after ive ate ill have a drink, and its always water as i dont drink tea/coffee, and also i dont drink alcohol either, or very seldom anyways.

drink water, go for a sleep, watch what food you are eating. Eating cheese then having chocolate kicks mine off.

Mines were caused from sitting at the computer for long periods of time, don't get them as much think I kinda grew out of them! Feel ur pain mate, used to be sick aswell not nice!

Ask your doctor for Imigran. They come in 60 or 100mg tablets, nasal spray or injection. They can even be bought over the counter nowadays (60mg only). They need to be taken as soon as you feel a migraine coming on or they don't work so well. If Imigran doesn't work, you probably don't have migraine 'cos they work on the bood vessels in your brain that cause it.

i feel your pain mate..been getting them since i was about 9 year old and im 28 now..was having 3-4 a week during heavy bouts of them but seem to have eased a fair bit the last 6 month or so..i have been told all the same crap about dairy foods, chocolate and coffee etc..and none of them make any difference to me whether i eat them or not.. in fact coffee helps me rather than hinders.. i get a weird sensation behind my eyes and know i am going to get a migraine..sometimes if im lucky i can take a few tablets and that beats it before it starts properly..only thing that works on me is 2x 200mg ibuprofen cos 1 aint enough.. i have been wearing sunglasses most of the day lately so maybe thats helped me..get some strange looks when its getting dark cos the headlamps hurt my eyes!! ha

3-4 a week? how on earth was you coping? with mine if i got one while i was at work i just have to say look im getting a migraine so ive got to go home, end of. But 3-4, surely there must be another problem for you to be getting them that often?.

So far ive never taken anything thats stopped an attack from going any further.

I just hope i grow out of them as someone else said above

400mg of ibuprofen is the standard dose anyway.

Migraleve pink is just co-codamol with an anti-emetic in it for the nausea.

Dont know what to suggest. The doc has tried sumitriptan (Imigran) and zolmitriptan(Zomig), there is another couple called naratriptan (Naramig) a rizatriptan (Maxalt) but they are all the same type of drug.

You can take ibuprofen and paracetamol or co-codamol but it might make you sick if you dont have something to eat first.

Have you tried the Zomig with OTC painkillers??

There are other drugs for preventing migraines but thats not much use now!

Its worth going back to the doc though, he/she might have some other ideas.
Maybe prescription painkillers/anti-inflammatories to take with a triptan.

Ive only ever used what they have given me as it does say on the box do not take with other medicines.
Ive just been looking through the leaflet of the Zomig tablets but i cant see anywhere that says it, but i remember reading on one of the box's though.

Do you think its worth having BP checked or anything? i find it strange that ive seen a doctor twice and not once did they check anything like that, was just a 2min chat and here you go try this.

There are some medicines that you cant take with zomig but painkillers are alright.

Theres another type of drug for migraines, not sure how often its used, ergotamine (Migril).
So you never know, theres hope yet.

Id go see a different doctor and tell them that you've tried Zomig and Imigran.
Yeah, im suprised he/she didnt check your BP, and im suprised they just handed the 'triptans' out so quickly actually. They can do your BP for you in less than a minute, so if they dont do it you can ask.
Do you take any other medicines regularly?

Do you ever get them behind you eye? Ive had it twice in the last few weeks where it feels like im being stabbed through the eye into my head. Absolute agony and made me sick. It was in left eye the first time then the right eye the second. I dont know if it was a migraine??

I dont take anything, and im fit as a fiddle with no aches and pains apart from the migraines obviously.

The one i had lastnight felt like it was behind my right eye yeah, and also get them right across my whole head.

Thinking about it, i dont think its ever a certain part, it varys, but yeah ive had the pain in my eye, or certainly feels like thats where the pain is coming from.

When i go next if they dont offer to take my BP i think ill ask them myself

my old doctor told me that my blood pressure was slightly higher than the norm but nothing to worry about at all, but it may rise before a migraine which doctors thought was a way to release the pressure..he likened it to a nose bleed releasing pressure..dont know if this is proven or what tho..ive been meaning to get an eye test for a while cos i was told my eyes may be straining too much without knowing as ive would have doing it for years and just feel normal..last test was about 15 year ago and was fine then but ya never know now..gotta be worth a try
