Am I right in thinking with the new SVA test, a car/chassis which is historic and tax exempt now looses this?

 

nothing over 10 years old needs the test as far as im aware.

Ar right the chassis, suspnesion and engine are from 1956.

It basically a kit body i am looking to put on top.

So I could get away with out a test!

 

probably not, if its a kit, dvla will probably demand it tested,

it gets quite complicated, your best off popping into your local vosa station and ask the guy who would be testing it

 

I hadn't heard of any exemption from the test on the grounds of age. The last date for SVA was 30 April 2009 and my Sierra needed an SVA test using a 1991 donor and a new shell.

I got an age-related J reg but the car shows on the log-book as first registered June 2009 - so no MOT for three years!
