99.9% of the fords that break its to do with people messing arround with them not knowing what they doing (sunday mechanics)

so you're getting rid of a ford as it breaks down yet buying something french to replace it? How ironic!

At least when a Ford breaks the parts are easy to identify and get. Ever tried getting French parts? Thet seem to revise every part 10 times but never let you know for sure which of them was fitted to your car! Im personally never getting another one.

If your worried about your car breaking constantly, fuck off all the other makes, buy yourself a mondeo. They are bullet proof, the only things that go wrong with them are the wishbones and eventual mechanical wear and tear.

if u drive fords hard they break, but so do everycar. but how r u gunna feel walking into the garage and seeing a peugeot 206 or a clio after havin an RS. just when abit breaks on the RS ... make it stronger so it wont break again.

buy a good 1 to start with.you think you wont get any bother with those french cars you are very mistaken.i have seen clios 172s that have split the bellhousing, and the 206s are crap and there would be more protction in a crash in a wheelbarrow.

If you take the rear bench, passenger seat and the carpet and door cards out it's possible to do a 14.1 at Santa Pod in the clio.

That is the only positive bit of advice I can give you about your choice of cars there.

You cant really compare a 90's ford to a newer 206 or a clio can you? certainly on the reliability side of things anyway. Not saying the old ford would be breaking down alot but i really think long term you'd have less wrong with a newer french car than you would an old rs ford.

Ive owned a clio older shape and my dads had a 106 years ago, cant really say either was a bad car, never broke down either.

But out of those 2 cars definatly the clio, its quicker and better handling i believe.

I'd personally avoid the 206, I've driven a lot of cars and the 206 sticks in my mind as being one of the worst (and it was only 2 years old)

lol@ going French!!! Clio looks a very nice little car, more so than the 206 imo.

Often for some reason the higher end models are less problematic from experience.

After years of Fords I went jap with the ctr, 2 years of driving with little more than the odd oil top up. Now german and all is zegood viv the Audi.

Thank you mate. Finally someone with some truth and sense.

And it's not the Sunday mechanic you cheeky cunt. I alwAys get my car fixed properly. Any1 that ain't an aarogent ford owner would say the exact same thing. I don't think an 05 Clio 182 would break down more than a Fucking 90spec s2. Be real yeh

The 182 is a completely different car to the Escort RS Turbo. The handling differences will be miles a part. I can imagine on a track the Clio would lap it without too much problem.

Bottom line is sooner or later all cars of all makes will break. I had a clio brilliant car to drive so much fun, but had to have a new gear box (it was 2 years old) and its cv joint was on its way out so i chopped it for an S3.
the pug is nothing special to drive so personally i wouldnt bother with that, but hey its your car and your money so drive them both and see what you think. Out of the two id go 18poo. But like i say all cars break, you get good and bad of all of them. But your not helping your chances with a french car.
When i was looking at the clio i also looked at a lupo gti, ive now got the lupo and wished id never bothered with the clio.

I'm going French too, Megane Renaultsport 225 though, but I do enjoy fixing things

Clio 182's are nippy, handle well, shouldn't have too many problems as long as you're not an animal behind the wheel, a mate has one, decent car.

You were always going to get a biased opinion posting on here, post the same thing on a Clio forum and you'll get the exact opposite.

Enjoy whichever way you decide to go

Oh yeah and don't bother with a 206 GTi, they are heavy lumps and don't even deserve a GTi badge, not a 'hot hatch' in the slightest.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

And oh yes, you'll be back, as soon as the Clio starts munching coilpacks, and the 206 will become all French and constantly want to go home to make Cheese.
