anyone changed a fuel pump on a mk5 or mk6 escort please help

Default anyone changed a fuel pump on a mk5 or mk6 escort please help

im in the process of changin the fuel pump on my escort instead of dropping the tank off ive cut a whole under the back seat to acces the pump to remove it.. im stuck in getting the red and black/grey connectors of for the feed and return to the pump i just cant seem to get it off. any ideas anyone can i cut them and feed the connectors back on sum knew pipe or is are they just realy har4d to do anyway???

any help mucha appriciated soz for spellin im gettin piss wet thru and not getting anywhere fast

They can be a bastard if they aint been off in a while, you need to push the two lugs in and at the same time push that part of the clip towards the pump and then pull the pipe out with your other hand

sound m8 thanks for gettin back done that ive fitted 2 different pumps both aint workin (second hand) whats puzzling is i cant hear the fuel pump priming it also shows when the electrical connecter is connected that there three quarters of a tank of fuel when theres only a quarter im puzzled what about the trip switch in the drivers footwell should that be up or down ??? any help would be much appriciated

right thats the switch bit sorted.. ive bought three pumps back home today and none seem to work ive checked the fuses and checked the wiring for any kinks etc and ive found nothing its not making the primin noise.. ive checked that the pump is the right one and all the wires match same size etc.. ive checked the fuses.. i just cant seem to think anything else.. the garage definatly said its the pump and nuthing else... im stuck anyone who solves me problem when im a millionare ill buy u a nice car ;P

save keep swaping pumps what voltage are you getting at the feed for the pump? dont take the garages word for it mate.

i have sorted it thanks for all the help.. found a fuse was blown the oxygen sensor 15 amp one was blown so replaced that and it fired up first turn of the key..
