http://zamzar.com/

convert it to a word file or whatever on there, edit it, and convert back.

Unless it's a really big file, that'll be the easiest way

PDF's are a pain in the arse to edit. That's the only way I ever use. I know there are other ways, but they're more hassle than they're worth. Well to me anyway, maybe not to a proper PC boffin

Why not just erm.. copy & paste it into word.. or did you try that already ? it should leave the set up the same so any grids or what have you should stay the same ?

*edit*
oh, if all else fails, you might be able to open it with adobe image-ready or photoshop

I can open and edit in Illustrator, but you'd have to send me all the details to fill it in!

You may just have to print it, write on it and scan it in/fax it back to them?

One would assume she doesn't have a printer if she's requested a hard copy to be posted.

You ideally need adobe acrobat writer and then remove the protection (if amy) on it to edit it.

The whole point of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is that it is not easily editable chaps.

I can edit all the fields, like address, name etc. apart from the three at the top

Its the tickboxes you cant do as they arent proper fields, just a square on the page.

You could fill in what you can and tell him what to put in the tickboxes.....but you still need to sign it anyway.

The problem is the document was never designed to be filled in electronically. Thats as good as you'll get i'm afraid

wouldnt say it was the whole point of it otherwise they wouldnt sell the full product with which you can do pretty much anything with the document.

Yes, but the purpose a PDF serves is that it's essentially a digital "print" of a document.

Like I would create a PDF of a .dwg file AutoCad drawing to send out, or a price list, which I wouldn't want to be tampered with, and so the recipient can easily print it off as I would have printed it off myself, without need for any editing or owt
