Hi all,
Do these scanner work on Golf Mk4? Im pretty sure I locked my car last night however this morning I've noticed my headunit has gone with no other damage??
Are after market alarm systems the only way or can these be grabbered / scanned aswell?
Thanks Bobby

pisses me off when it leaves you unsure ![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
i'm thinking whats the chances of the 1 night you don't lock it that someone checks it..... but if its on a busy road then theres every chance.
seems a bit extreme having a code grabber to nick head units, maybe they are in to other thing aswell? Any damage to the ignition lock?

Decent alarms change the code each time, so even if it is grabbed it can't be used again as it's already been used once.
It's not the car where a tennis ball over the key hole can open them is it?

That's what I thought. Haven't most of them been like that for a few years now?
I had it happen to me a few times on my smokestone 4x4 and then caught them on camera unlocking it. It's a good job I had a problem with the ignition barrel and changed it, otherwise that would of been gone

Can't you cctv where the cars parked?

The key to my Girlfriends Golf Mk4 GTi unlocks and locks my Polo GTi when you press the button, has always bothered me as mine key used to unlock hers but now it doesn't? Is it just a coincidence or could it be a VW problem - although the cars is unlocked on the button the key won't fit/start the car, i have to always lock the car again after she goes cos of this!

CCTV is the next option I think.
Tony -basically locks itself if its be opened via the remote and the doors dont open within a minute or so.
I've actually enabled the alarm chirp on the car so im thinking i should have heard that if someone did disarm the system via a scanner or a grabber - but when your deep in sleep you dont hear anything nevermind a chirp.

most good alarms have rolling code,
another thing the theives would do is throw millions of codes at the alarm to confuse it, and it would dissarm, but new alarms also have a feature if they detect any code that is not there own, they close down for a few seconds which stops this from working

unfortunately it`s not spam.
I posted this ad because two weeks ago my car was stolen
and out of curiosity I searched on internet such devices. I think we should be very careful from now on.

do you honestly think its a good idea to advertise it on a site though....
if people are looking for it they will find it.
but there is no need to actively advertise the item, and bring it to the attention of everyone?
