As title? How different is the block from a 2.0 pinto block, is it just a bigger bore size, or is it taller as well?

According to this;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto_engine#2.0_OHC

Looks like the 2.3 came first and the 2.0 was a reduced bore version of the same block, 89mm against 96mm
.

No

It was used in the american XR4i Merkur 2.3 turbo, a common name for the engine is Lima, i don't think its the same as our pinto engine

That was a V6.

The 2.3 in the later granadas [scorpios] was the chain driven DOHC thing like in the later "RS"2000s.

*EDITED* beaten to it by Mickel

You can find the 2.3 Sohc in the Mustang or the XR4ti. There are quite a few mustangs in the uk with them. A lot of the drag racers remove them to fit V8s. May be worth looking on that type of forum for one.

ford did a 2.0, 2.3, 2.4, 2.8, 2.9, 3.0 and a 3.1 V6 although the 2.4 and 2.9 versions were the efi versions

the 2.3 4 pot in the sierra was a diesel in case you were wondering
