Hi, I have a Ford Escort Chicane 1998 with a dodgy temp gauge, it reads maximum as soon as i turn the key (cold of hot engine). I would check the fuse but where is it?? I have plugged a power tester into both wires that lead to the sender and cant get a voltage. Summers here and it'd be nice to know if my temp goes too hot. Any help would be grateful as the cars fantastic other than that... Apart from the lack of central locking
Steve.

Silly me, i was removing the wrong cables to the wrong item, ive found the coolant sender is under not on top of the silver pipe.. ive checked this and there is power going to it and if i ground one of the wires the temp gauge goes to max as it does when i plug it back on the sender unit. I will replace the sender and see what happens soon.
