standard Vito has a crap towing weight its about 1500kg you have to order them from the factory with extra towing weight as I looked at them to tow my car trailer I went for a VW Transporter T30 2500kg towing weight 5000kg train weight in fact I opted for a Sportline which has the 174 bhp engine (the same power as a normal174) & you don't even hardly know your towing with 400N/M of torque. You can even get Transporters in 4x4 if you need more grip.

there is only one van in that list that in reality legally ( working on the average weights and options) that will tow a large car and twin axle trailer

sorry i thought when you said your car, you meant the three door

you will prob be looking at 1250kgs car on trailer, so you may get away with the smaller vans.

the daily's have one thing better than all the rest, a separate chassis, so they are the premium weight lifter/carrier, and after looking at sprinters, lt's etc last time i wanted a van, i bought a 2001 daily, had a remap, and what a great van, drove nice, quiet and smooth with just single rear wheel, was surprised myself.
the interior plastics are still shit like

as long as you wear rigger boots to ensure you cover the pedals enough to press the, and dont mind having to turn the steering wheel left 30deg, then right 30 deg constantly to keep it in a straight line oh and dont mind being pasted by everything on a hill (read slight incline)

PMSL i used to hate the fooking things with a passion till i started offroading them, in road trim they dont tow too bad...you can get a decent one for a grand to Ł1500 these days.....but they are in a diffrent class to say a toyota landcrusher for towing

i nearly went for one of them a couple of years ago, had one lined up (beforei went for the ivecos) was sill money for what it was though, and to be honoust i was adament i wanted twin rear axle, but settled on a big single, and it was every bit as steady the van and trailer with car weighed in at 5.5ton.

the RAC 90/330 is the best option, smallish SWB van but because its the 330 it has a gross train weight of 5300kg so with that car and trailer you'll never go over any weight (axle, GTW or GVW) even with a full van of spares, with an empty van you're able to tow 3500KG, because as comercial vehicle, as long as GTW, GVW and axle weights are under their max, you can tow and carry what you like, and before anyone says thats not true, thats come from a VOSA friend of mine who pulls people for over weight van and trucks, and thats the model i had as a tow van after doing loads of research.

i agree with that, except there really is only the RAC/recovery companies that buy them, and when they sell them they have done stellar mileages, transits dont wear well, and the 90ps, loaded is very poo.

90ps is crap for towing, my cosworth powered mk5 rac was good though, but shouldn't be bad, mileage on the RAC vans is normally not to bad as they are parked at breakdowns and in laybys waiting for breakdowns, more than driving up and down motorways 24/7.
