TOTB update thread..
Did anyone else think the commentator for the drag racing was utter shit? He was doing my head in, with his "heavy breathing" and consistently getting car info wrong.... or am I just being picky?
Heavy breathing, eating!, talking shite and getting it all wrong!
Kept pronouncing Andy Gallacher's name "Galager", claimed a seat ibiza in the fwd class was a "5 valve turbo" and there was a silvia running which he said was an "r34 silvia" loads more too i can't remember but he was an arse, aye.
Yes, he was a mong!

total flid imo
Great pics and videos, I had a awesome day out, didn't get burnt which made a change for totb
Well done to everyone that compteted, must of been a tough old day with the mixed conditions.
Stu's Westy and Andys Focus were both consistantly fast all day, very impressive to watch.
My only complaint of the whole day and this has been the same for every TOTB is the lack of screens with timings on ! They really need to sort that out as a: the crowd don't know who is who and whats fastest and b: neither do all the competitors which caused the hassle at the end when the semi's were announced.
For the money they charge to get in they should definitely have something in place as the ONLY place they show the times are at the start line which is a very busy place to stand and obviously thats only the 1/4 mile times.

Was a great day, was great to see Andys Car in the metal.
Andy and Stu where both top of their class in all ways, good to have something Cosworth to back and get excited about,
Other Cosworth engined beasts,
Norris's Sun Beam
Mk1
Dax Rush
And the Granny adding to an interesting Ford line up, he was doing really well to the end before getting a bad start in a quarter finals cant remember who against, i think with the smallest Ford entrants in years this was one of the best years iv seen for Ford success since the very early TOTB days.

a very good point.especially as unless you were right next to a speaker you couldnt really hear the commentator anyway.
a big leader board next year would be superb and everyone would know who was where......
especially at Ł20 per person entry fee-surely there is a few quid left over to invest....
this is all they needed to display results they could buy 2 secondhand 42" plasma's for Ł400
and this stand about Ł200 add some weights and put a perimter around it
job done. could even be remotely put too.

Does that include the software to interface to their timing setup, and all weatherproofing etc?
Cause it seems to me that it might be slightly less simple than that, not saying its massively hard to do, but just not quite as simple as you buy two cheap plasmas and the time magically appears on them.
Im sure myself or another team rep could pass on feedback though

obviously it would need weather proofing and extras thats why i never mentioned it.
it was just to show an idea but not all the technical gumpf

If you wander over to the main sponsors tent, they have 2 plasmas with that info on that is updated during the day to show the top cars, obviously it cant display all 120 at once though!
One thing i have just thought of is ofcourse there are a lot of competitors so displaying all of that one one screen without it scrolling would be difficult.
Even if they could just show the top 30 that would be better than nothing !

They already have a screen like that, I thought we were discussing it coming up in real time as the events were run like at pod, not a human entered screen that happens afterwards.

however even results 2 mins later would be plenty sufficent for most
as johnny says any info is better than none
How does it know what car is run then?
Does someone have to enter all the driver numbers as they are running?
How does it interface to the timing gear to pick up the numbers?
No, 2 mins later would be rubbish, I want to see it like it is at the pod, I want to see someone run, and see their time, I dont want to have to try and remember what their number was and look out for the time 10 runs later!

your just an argumentative ass chip. it would be better than nothing how it would technically work is not needed for discussion of the idea to see results, which is what the majority of ppl was moaning about as they didn't get to know what was happening score wise wether there was a display some where or not they didn't know about it!
i give up!

Not an easy thing to do when running 120 cars on 3 different sets of timing gear mate.
No im just thinking realistically thats all!
It is NOT as simple as you are making out, if it was I am confident they would have done it.
They already have a tent you can go to and see scores with lags in it on plasma screens like you are asking for mate!

I wasn't aware of that so again they should make it clear where that is !
Big banner above said tent so everyone can see it from wherever they are would be a good plan.
The same setup at the handling circuit would be good though as when I walk over I want to see what the times are.
Actual times on the strip are shown on the LCD read outs where the cars stage up, those on bigger screens as the pod do or similar would be perfect.

Im sure we all agree on the fact there needs to be more info to spectators, thats the key factor, I think its a bit pointless us trying to decide what the mechanism should be though without any knowledge of what systems it needs to interface to and how.
Yes we all agree so now lets get back to bathing in our Cosworth and Vauxhall winning glory!
Has anyone seen a link to the overall scores and top ten yet?
