Default Mondeo sounds rough from cold

I've got a Mondeo ST TDCI that's now done 52k miles, most of it by me, and it's started sounding quite clattery and rough from cold, although it does always start first time. It does stutter now and then on the road when cold as well.
It's not long had an oil change and I use Magnatec in it, it hasn't had a fuel filter for a long time though, could that be it, or could it be something else?
Anyone had a similar problem?

these suffer with the injectors coming out of sync they just need re coding to the ecu, this can cure it or it can cure it for a while then do the same again in which case you would need four new injectors, which isnt cheap !

this has happened on both of the work run abouts, the 2.0td mondeo and the st155 td

Thanks mate, I had heard about this problem and was told it was expensive, I was hoping it might be something cheap. Fat chance.

you may be lucky ! it could just need re syncing which could be around Ł50.

if not then its Ł100 per injector plus fitting and manual syncing

Will it have to go to a main dealer, because I don't want my local dealer to have it because they're a bunch of numptys.

Cool, thanks for that mate. I'd rather drive the car into a river than take it to my local dealer after my last dealings with them.

They are mate, they had my last Escort Cossie in and basically charged me an absolute fortune for a totally substandard job. I'll buy bits from them if I can't get them anywhere else but I wouldn't let them touch my cars again.

sure its not the dual mass flywheel? These can go around the 60-80k mark and they make a rattling noise when fooked.
