Yes thats right, one bit attaches to the wall, one bit to the telly, then they just hook together and tighten a couple of screws down to make sure it isn't going to come off again.
you monster, screwing that little gerbil thing into the wall

Very nice - did you put pipes in the wall or install sockets?

Here's one that we just installed -

Spec is short and sweet:
- Samsung 7-series 40" LED TV
- Samsung BD-P4600 Bluray/upscaled DVD player
- Sony HT-IS100 surround system
- Samsung Wireless adapter for TV

There is a combination of sockets and free cables hidden behind the TV, shelf and sub. Off the picture there is a 13A socket and HDMI input for games consoles to the right; and HDMI, Coax digital, 2xRF and 3.5mm IR data for sky/virgin.

The TV features loads of internet functionality via a nice sexy interface. Haven't had too much of a play but allows you to view youtube/flikr stuff and will access anything in your media-player library or on a DLNA media server (which should include PS3 and XBox 360).

Comes with on-board ethernet but wireless adapter is only Ł40 ish...

My chimnet breast has been extended in width, ie timber frame with palsterboard over. Theres hole in that and cables go through that then exit bottom right corner (you can just see it). Once i get around to it, i will be tidying the cable on exit of the hole and put some nice glass shelves in.

My VESA mount arrived today thanks Rich and I bought a TV stand unit thing from Ikea to house the ps3, wii, sky + box etc

The mount came with decent looking bolt type screws but I'll be looking for the more substantial ones seen earlier in this thread

The rigifix fixings mentioned earlier in the thread are available cheaply from http://www.directbuildingproducts.co...s3.php?id=1525 - hope that helps!

Forgot to mention, the above install uses the Samsung Ultra Slim Wall Mount / WMN1000B; which comprises to metal discs attached to the wall by one M6 bolt each! The TV is then fitted with some spacers and a length of steel wire, and literally hangs like a picture:

Just goes to show you don't need 10 M8 bolts In fairness, the main reason they get away with just two is that all the load on the wall goes directly onto those two points, whereas with lots of universal brackets the fixings will not correspond with the points of load on the bracket by the plasma.

One of my mates came over yesterday to help me put my new TV on the wall Neither of use knew what we were doing but we though we would give it a crack

We used 8 rawl bolts & 3 big self tapping screws and rawl plugs, the self tappers came in the mounting kit. We had used 4 but had to remove one due to problems positioning the TV.

The shelf above the TV was already there and it was on the piss and not in the centre of the wall so much to my mates annoyance I decided to remove it and put it right while we had the tools out

Thanks for your help Rich, the mount is spot on and this thread was very helpful to me

No prob mate! That cabinet you've got all the bits in looks like mine. While you 'had the tools out', you could have run the cables behind the wall though

I'll get some pics up in a bit of how mine looks now!

Here's the pics of mine, before and after. The cabinet that holds the bits in I bought from argos, it should be a coffee table, but I didn't use the drawers, and I trimmed it down a bit too so the bits fit nicely inside.

The hole in the wall behind the tv, there's another behind the unit that the cables go in

I honestly couldn't be bothered to dig the wall out and didn't know how. I redecorated most of this house before we moved in and I wasn't keen on doing it again.

Yours looks sweet, it does look better with the cables hiden I admit but I can always do mine later

Its a 50 mate.

As for soundstage, well it sounds ok I guess! I know they should be at ear height etc but I'm no way a conisseur at soundstages etc so it'll do just fine

No worries mate - it's always a bit of a compromise to be honest, unless you are lucky enough to be able to afford a dedicated music/cinema room. The aim in general is to approximate a point-source, so that the sound always sounds like it's coming from the image (although surround sound complicates this somewhat) and is phase coherant. That can be accomplished by positioning, delay, psycho-acoustic processing (phase + delay) or a combination of any.... But the net result is only ever 100% accurate for 1 point in 3d space...

Basically, in living rooms your always up against it, so it makes most sense to go with what looks best and will sound 'ok' lol!

How does your Sony system sound? The one I did above is a HT-IS100 but can't say I've listened to the bigger systems....

Pardon me?

Yeah it sounds alright, Doesn't sound as clear and crisp as I would have hoped, TV speakers do sound clearer. Its excellent for films and for kicking arse on the PS3 though

Thats tidy Rich!!!!

I done a post awhiel ago about position of speakers and was common that above ear height is good. Mine will be spaced out and near the ceiling in the lounge apart from centre speaker which will be mounted under the TV.

Cant wait to get sounds but its down on my list atm lol. I want Denon amp and Kef 2005.5 speakers.
