I'm with award winning plusnet, my bro has BT business which he says is good(it's free for him), but reckons when he had normal BT it was crap, but maybe different in each area ?
Plusnet phoned me up to tell me I was getting near my 16Gb or whatever limit, and to do something otherwise get penalised, so I just paid the extra for unlimited which was cheaper than the penalty!

However, because of the tv, and tv alone, I'll probably be going Virgin in the near future..............

Cut me off, every time you phone customer services you get some total useless twat that cant speak English, they fix teh direct debit system they said......... i was then somehow paying double the rentals

this is all well and good but it means you are then what they call non llu so if you ever want to change service provider again you have to pay £99 to bt to reconect you before you can swap bet they dont tell you that when they sell you the cheap internet!!.
#25
Nope! But I bet BT would waiver the charge if you went back................

I was with NTL (Now Virgin) in 2004 to 2006 and were ok. Only problem was every now and again I would loose connection on a Saturday and no one would fix it till the Monday. Only happened 3 times iirc.
2006-2009 I have been with SKY and their top £10 package was quite slow in my area.
2009 I have changed to O2 who has a faster connection, but still 12MB off the 20MB I was meant to get, but it has unlimited downloads and only £10 odd a month with first 3 months free. I can cancel at anytime due to them not supplying the right speed I was estimated.

I've been with Plus net for years and can't fault them at all and their help people seem to be in the UK whenever I've had to call them.
Did think about changing to O2 to save £4 per month but then realised that O2 doesn't give any webspace - it's not something I use a lot, but it's handy to have when I want it.

Motherin law is with BT, its shit
I had virgin for 6 years and only ever had one day where it was off, rock solid and fast
Now have sky, it's shit, always going down and slows up a hell of a lot in peak times
Never again

if you get the package, sky is heard to beat, but you do have to pay the line rental to bt
it's looking like bt is your best option at the moment in you live in the wilderness, but don't forget that if you already have broadband, you will need to get a migration code or soemthing from your curent provider as you can only have one per address or soemthing, which is why it's so bloody difficult to change when your old isp play silly fuckers and won't give it to you

I would avoid BT at all costs. Utter utter bunch of bastards and their customer service centre in the darkest depths of india is SHITE.
When my grandad died we had to terminate his BT internet contract. BT unfortunately could not do it as we were not the account holder. The reason that they could not speak to the account holder because he was dead seemed irrelevant.
We had weeks and weeks of grief from them about cancelling the contract and freeing up the line again (as they had locked the line to them so no other provider could access it), complete bunch of bastards IMO and the reason I begrudgingly hand over £10 a month line rental to them.
I am with SKY, their customer service centre is in this country so if you have any problems then you can actually speak to someone you understand, which I think is very important!
Never had a problem with them in the 18 months I've had a broadband/phone/tv package with them

They would be my second choice! Plusnet have probably the best customer service there is imo. My mum and dad are with them. If you have an ongoing fault they assign you with an advisor so you speak to the same person every time. Their internet seems to have a lot of downtime though, although it could be due to the line?

although with the likes of sky you just explain this to them and then tell them the password and it's all good from there

Sky is a good option as its the only one that doesnt need any BT hardware as far as im aware.
All the others, run on BT lines, so if you have a problem they have to pay BT to fix it, which obviously they dont want to do so just try and fob you off with excuses until you cancel your contract as its cheaper for them to lose you as a customer than pay BT to fix your line.
