SORN fines?
just got log book back for my laid up escort. its not been on the road for about 12 years. thought i would check when the sorn is due, and one has never been put on in. seeing as its never been on the road since the sorn system was introduced, will me or the mate i got it off be liable for a fine? you never here of people with barn finds being hit with hefty charges

The new owner will get the fine if its not sorned or taxed, even if a car is sorned when its sold the new owner still has to register it as sorn again ive known a few ppl that have been stung with a fine latley.

When I scrapped a car some 3 1/2 years ago I took V5 into LVLO in Norwich, as was there getting disc for new car, I still get tax reminders and letters, and have a letter from dvla telling me they know and accept it's been scrapped/disposed of, but still get threatening letters about fines.
The mistakes coming from dvla are immense, just tell then you sent it off if they ask.
