Default Anyone got experience with LPG?

been trying to find out a fair ammount with google, but most of the sites ive found are either about landrovers, or companies selling things...

the way i understand it is that lpg is about the same MPG wise, its just that it's half the price of petrol, hence lots of nice savings

what i'm concerned about is what kind of system can be fitted to my car, and how much does it cost (for either DIY or pro install) any compaies off here ever done anything with it?

ive seen 2 systems on these websites, a "mixer" system which i beleives wors a bit like a carb and goes on your intake piping somewhere, and an "SVI" system which effectively uses its own seperate ECU and seperate lpg injectors and is mapped in like a normal petrol system etc. but i assume the cost of this is enormous!

if the initial cost is too high, then im not even gonna consider it...

Seriously, if you dont get it done by a trusted approved garage I'd steer well clear.

Heard many stories that end in.............

www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com/forums. A few people use LPG on there with 24v's..

Also, i only think you get a grant if the car of a certain age - i think Jim's may be too old?

Also another point worth noting, the MPG with gas appears to be slightly worse, say 25mpg when the car does 30mpg on petrol, but who cares, cos gas near me is 29.9p a litre (wish i had gas!) LOL

i drive a a v8 3.9 landrover disco with lpg
the gas is cheap ,anywhere between 29p & 32p a litre
you do get less to the gallon
but you also get a drop is performance/power

has pros and cons, for me it makes driving a gas guzzler afordable

I dont see the performance drop as important as if you want to accelerate hard just flick the switch back to petrol for a minute

a mate had this on his XR2i

it ran on normal petrol then you flick a switch and it puts the gas into the pipe before the throttle body and turned off the fuel injectors and it ran like that.

thas how i understood it anyways
