What a shite advert though.
Fair enough, rare car/valueable etc... but at least put some pics up? Blank the reg if you must? People sell much rarer and/or more expensive cars all the time and they aren't half as anal about it.
Typical RS owner thinking what they have is the be all and end all of motoring.

he say's
I WILL NOT REVEAL THE LOCATION OF THE CAR UNTIL I HAVE ASCERTAINED IF YOU ARE GENUINE
thats fine may be someone would want to steal it....
but then he put's
ALSO, THE CAR HAS JUST HAD A CAMBELT AND PULLEY CHANGE, TOGETHER WITH A FULL FLUIDS AND FILTERS SERVICE AT NORRIS MOTORSPORT, AND NEXT WEEK WILL RETURN TO THEIR PREMISES FOR A FULL REMAP TO ENSURE THE CAR IS RUNNING AS NEAR TO PERFECT AS IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET...

A reply to some comments;
The paint? The RS500 Registrar is correct about the paint, 'Mr Ashfield Motor Sport' is wrong (I also seem to remember a phone conversation I had about bringing the car to him, as a result I went to Norris Motorsport, enough said)
The headlights? Genuine original headlights that have been on this car from new, the car is parked near a low wall on the front of the house, and light doesn't reflect as well of stone as it does of paint (look at Apollo Moon Landing conspiracy images to get my drift). Yes, better images could have been placed on the ad, but I wasn't in a fit state, and in any case the ad did say that more images were available, including all door shuts, underside, inside wheelarches, under bonnet etc etc.
The wheels - read the ad; they were a spare pair, painted silver and fitted with new Toyo Proxes tyres for 'everyday' use - the original wheels and the original 22 year old tyres are tucked away (and would you really drive on 22 year old tyres....?)
The location was different as I had moved house and did not amend my details, also my wife posted the advert as unfortunately I had suffered a nervous breakdown and was not really up to dealing with the matter, hence her name was used. Sorry for any confusion caused.
Some kind person queried the value of such a car;it's amazing how many people think they will buy a low mileage RS500 for £20k (and probably will get numerous beers bought down the pub when they recount the story of how they 'nearly bought an RS500' );
well, as a barometer to all of the (s)nobs out there, I got VERY near the asking price, which was well in excess of £30k and around the figure suggested in one of the posts; and the car is going to Mediterranean climes (I'll tell more when it's gone, but suffice to say the new owner who is 28 years of age is delighted, and went through the car with a fine toothcomb)
Hope that this doesn't offend or rain on anybodies parade; I joined this forum for help, banter, and to exchange knowledge etc etc and was really disappointed with some of the negative comments by people who should know better or who formed opinions based on little or no fact. I can only consider that it was envy? Personally, a car is a car, doesn't matter what it is; if you like it / love it then that is all that matters (think of the line in Ferris Bueller where Cameron descibes his father 'Ferrari' as "it is his love, it is his passion.....") I was in the lucky position of my wife buying me that car - my father had just died and it gave me a big jolt on reality, and I realised that there were places I want to see before I die, and cars I want to own (within reason!!!)
I look forward to remaining a member of PassionFord for the foreseeable future, whilst I consider how to spend the dosh; a new business venture beckon for my wife, so........

I'm a lucky man in having such a wonderful woman - the world would be a lot better place if there were more like her.
This wasn't a dig at people, it was just a way of putting the record straight ; thanks Paul for your kind words - I had planned to keep the RS for the next 14 years until my son is old enough to drive, but illness and other circumstances preclude that.
Still, it will be going to a good home, wher it will be cherished.
I can't see anythin replacing it Ford-wise except a Mk1 Escort Rs1600 or T?C, or a Mk 2 RS1800, but they are mid-to-late £20k so I'll have to persuade my good lady on that one.
I have to say that after it had been to NMS at Alfreton, the car drove better than new whilst running a totally standard engine - it just proves the worth of a good specialist.
Thanks once again, and look forward to revealing my next ride (could even be a Mk1 RST or an RS1600i I have seen....)
