Pintle injectors CAN be re-ground to a different shape to give a better spray pattern.

Greys/403's ARE pintle type injectors, so it stands to reason that it COULD be done, but I"ve never actually SEEN it done.

You have 3 choices with my grey injector:-

1......Run with a cap and blow the engine

2......Run with a cap and drill them out

3......Take cap off completely to get a better spray pattern.

Your money..take the choice...all 3 cost the same unless you WANT to pay more for the better spray pattern

Yes, it can be done.

Simple question seems necessary next....

Q) Why do you want to do this Jakki?

Greys are only around £270 brand spanking new from me and many many other suppliers... add £30 ish for fitting kit and your away...

The thing is though, theres fok all wrong with the spray pattern on a grey

Have you ever looked at one in an injector bench? Its fine, not the best, but good enough for a shonky old Pinto.. bad mappers blaming the injectors for their poor chips have given 403's a bad name and sprouted daft stories IMHO

stu

you are 100% right but in the early days most mappers couldn't controll the grey and thats why ford went back to using the Xo38 because it was casing premiture wear on the boares of the blocks

the only reason why ford went for the grey over the xo38 in the first place was the cost as the xo38 were about £200 each injector at the time and the grey was about £50 each it was a standard injector that was fitted to the porches 911 turbo

out of general curiosity whats the flow rate of xo38's vs 403's? (assuming same fuel pressure and rising ratio)?

And youve replaced how many exactly? roflol

They dont fail, that would be cool as fook but they clog up and lose their spray pattern.. then.. pop A small 10% loss of flow ona grey is 50 fookin cc remember

And yes, i do have a flow bench so yes this is real world TESTED info, so keep those adverts running Phil

I have NEVER had a warranty injector and i have sold a few in 2 years...pumps,i have had 3 and 5 bar map sensors 2........

An injector has a large life before cleaning needed...and yes our company have all the Bosch jetronic items...if the filter is changed at the proper intervals then no worries.

GT2 Bosch do no injectors bigger than greys...except for the air/gas which aint fuel injectors!

PS if Bosch modified any injector it would have a different part number...its total bollocks IMO.
