accurate speedos + stack gauges
i want to put a stack tacho in me series 1 and other gauges like act etc on a carbon sheet. The problem that i might have is that i will need a speedo as me car will be used on the road. I was just wondering if anyone did a digi speedo or if not any type of speedo really. O and who can supply me with all the above cheers

THats why I would opt for a stack every time as they can display a number of parameters all in the one display. Saves having 10 x 52 mm gauges dotted around your dash

fook me 186 i dont think the series 1 will be getting anywhere near that. Iwill probably end up looking like a knob with a true 140 showing, all the knobs will be saying its shit slow and that there 106 gti does 145 of the clock
Lol, i know what u mean.... My speedo is v accurate, often when people in car, they commentin i only doin 80 etc, when a normal rst is showin about 95...
How much is that stack? Would like it for the rev counter.

As per Rich Pon... that Stack is a loely piece of kit... Extremely accurate to the nearest 1 mph... I know someone who did a recorded 148.8 or summat on GPS and the Stack showed a peak of 149!!!

The Stack ST500SR has now been discontinued and you can only buy the ST700 now.
It is only as accurate as the measurements you program into it - you have to measure the circumference of the tyre and tell the Stack this info and it counts the rotations to work out the speed. It is 100% accurate with the correct information (according to Datron timing gear). However, be aware that as the tyre wears from it's maximum tread to minimum, the circumference will reduce and give a slightly higher reading (a smidge over 1% @ 181mph).
Please be aware that the speed sensor ideally needs to be on an undriven wheel.
Ben,
The brightness can be user adjusted .

Can you buy just the speed sensors for say like navigation or anything else that needs a road speed?
Mike Rainbird, Please be aware that the speed sensor ideally needs to be on an undriven wheel.
how does it work on the 4x4 then?

Fozy,
It's not so bad with a 4x4, as these don't wheel-spin that much. However, if you have a REALLY powerful 4x4, then the performance timing function of the Stack ST700 will obviously give a false time if the car wheelspins at all. A bit like when you used to see how fast you could get a normal speedo to register on a front wheel drive car with-out actually moving anywhere - this is why you don't want it connected to a driven wheel .

My SPAS all have visual alarms and you can set these up, but the stack was better as it was straight in front of me and you continually look at it.
There are another 2 SPAS that you can't even see in this piccy
