Dom,
To get the best out of the ALS, you really want a Bailey twin piston one of some description. I run the recirculating type and it is very good.

naa. considered braking it but then I decided spending 4 times the amount of money its worth on it and still ending up with a shitbox saff was a much better idea

Dom,
Donkey - why did you buy the maram shafted T4, if you weren't going to get it all mapped on P8 and have ALS . There needs to be a dick-head smiley .

Mike. I just forgot to mention it to Harvey Just sort of assumed he would do it anyway

Would it be possible to buy a P8 and swap my chip over into it??? then Ahmed could map the ALS on the road???

No it would not. You need to have had it mapped on the dyno with P8 at the time . You just wasted all that money, all for the sake of not buying a P8 ECU for Ł250 (insert dick-head smiley here ).

Mike. I assumed (que comment "they say assumption is the mother of all fuck ups") Harvey was going to do me P8, dizzyless ignition etc on there and I would just see it in the bill afterwards All he said to me was guaranteed 430bhp and I agreed

I would have happily paid the Ł250 quid extra to get the ecu.

I might as well just break it now

I didn't realise Harvey was supposed to be able to read your mind - he would have put a P8 on it had you asked him and you could have had dizzyless and everything, it would only have been the price of the ECU, coil pack and leads to do so .

Youd a a cock IMO to waste money on some jap "BOV" when they do the same and sound the same as pretty much any other DV, they jus look pretty and cost a lot.

Cant beat the Forge "GrpA" non-piston ones for loudness IMO.

If the DV spring is strong enough and your ALS is good enough then your boost should never go into vac' with it switched on so it wont be an issue.

I have a Turbo Smart Supersonic Dump Valve It's a bit lary and going through the Dartford Tunnel on the way to Southend is very interesting. This dump valave is very very loud however Turbo Smart have a whole range from recircling to the Megasonic. They also make Actuators which will give you the rally chatter. I purchased mine from Nitrous Solutions however PTS stock these parts.

I had fitted the part myself however it did not run properly after having my car set up at PTS they had the dump valave giving it plenty.

Visit Turbo Smarts web site for the range of productS.
www.turbosmart.com.au/

You can also here the dump vlaves on the site. Hope this helps

And trust me, HKS DV/BOV sounds same as every other bloody valve, if you hear chatter it IS chatter, its not coming from your bloody dumper...

People think some jap BOVs cause chatter cause, A, they idiots, B, it replaces the factory recirc valve which is usually very efficient, and C, jap BOVs have very strong springs in them (as do most piston dumpers intended for use on cars with airflow meters) so barely opens/operates at all on most cars, so causes chatter like not having a dumper at all does...

BUT, the Super sequential thing does sound diff from other valves doesnt it? First valve is like a whistle, second when more boost is the traditional tschh

you can fit it to any engine, inc a rst.

ive heard them plenty tmes, sound like most extra strong springed twin piston dumpvalves do, squeaky/whistly at low boost as hardly opens, normal big woosh at high

And I repeat Smit The turbo would like it just fine IF I RAN als (lol-lack o lag) because it is maram shafted, so your comment of "dunno how the turbo would like it if you ran it" is bullshit, just like I first said

OMG. Discussing about noise when it comes to dump valves!? Thats kindergarden stylee.

The dump valve has one function, to evacuate pressurized air in an effective manner. Whats effective then? As fast as possible and as much as possible. They are fitted to avoid backpressure on the impeller, making the "bad" air braking the rotational momentum on it, thus making spool up/lag during, as an example, gear switching less time consuming. The best option would be a valve that was atleast as big in diameter as the pressure piping used, so responsive that it opened instantly whenever throttle movement caused pressure differences before and after butterfly.

Oh, and to your remorse, these valves would just sound "whoosh". You'll hear in time...

hexxon,
i'm not convinced that dumping all of the pressured air does make the engine more responsive on a gear change. to my mind, it makes sense to keep some of this volume of air that is contained in the inlet system so that it can be used by the engine when you open the throttle again. by not running a d/v, you acheive this.

and although some of it will escape back through the turbine impeller slowing it down, i believe that this is offset by the faster spool up time, created by the air volume that you kept, being processed when you open the throttle again.

that is the only way that i can explain the difference i feel between having a d/v and not (but that is only on a t3).
