Hi, ive just bought a ropey old 3 door sierra so i thought i would join up to the site.
To be perfectly honest my main experience of cossie's is normally beating them up the quarter in a standard looking vauxhall nova, but this one came up at a good price and ive always wanted a 3 door so i took the chance while i had it.
Couple of pics, sorry about the quality.

Main plans at the moment are to get it SVA'd and back on the road as its currently not registered.
Ive bought it as a stolen recovered vehicle
As far as i can tell it used to be an RS500, you can still see the pin stripe sticker and rs500 sticker glue up the side of it thats been hastily removed to hide its identity, but it no longer has the rs500 engine, instead its got a normal cossie motor, i havent even had a chance yet to see if its a 200 block or a 205 block as it went straight from where i bought it to my mates workshop till ive got a chance to work on it.
Ill probably just service it and drive it as an everyday car, its unlikely to ever be as quick as my Nova anyway, so not much point looking at it as a performance car but should make a nice motor for exiting roundways arse first etc.
Real shame it was stolen and lost its true identity as they are SO rare (rs500's) in this colour.

Davey, I didnt mean to disrespect the marque or anything, but it would cost SO much money to get it to the same performance level as my other cars that i more want this as a road car than balls out performance, wasnt saying that cossies are actaully slow, but its all relative to what else you drive.
With this car ending up on a Q plate when its SVA'd (due to losing its identity) its never going to be worth anything so i cant justify spending mega money on the engine really.

LOL
Ive got a couple, front engined one that runs low 13s (should be a 12 this year) and a mid engined one that should hopefully be in the 11s soon but isnt on the road at the moment.
This probably isnt the place to dicuss them though.
I'm also halfway through building a 500bhp/600kgs mini at the moment as well.

As far as price goes.
Well it was a swap plus a bit of cash, so it kind of depends on what value one would place on the car i part ex-ed towards it, but i guess it owes me around the 2.5 grand mark, although will be well over 3K by the time its Q plated and on the road.
Its never going to be worth anything on a Q plate, but i figured it was worth that in bits, due to stuff like the rs500 front bumper (without the side bits) and the rs500 intercooler, 170mph clocks with boost gauge, pretty good nick recaro trim, cossie engine and t5 box, escort cossie wheels etc

To be honest to me personally the Q plate and the fact i can never technically refer to it as a RS500 or a Cosworth dont really matter to me, its the car i intend to be driving hard not the log book!
Thanks for the kind comments on the car.
The engine bay was hanging when we picked it up, horrible cable ties everywhere and things not attached, looked like it was Stevie Wonders practice car from his mechanics course, but it will all be done properly soon as it needs to be for the SVA anyway.
If you could take a look at my other thread, about where to mail order parts, it would be appreciated:

Im not going into the ford vs vauxhall thing as i dont want to make you feel bad mate.
Unless anyone else on here can get over 40mpg and also outdrag a standard v-spec skyline gtr r34 to 100mph and run a 13.3 quarter?
Thought not

Hi Simon, good to see you have turned to the dark side!
I have been out in his Nova (well one of them!) a while back in a milder spec I presume, it was seriously quick - felt pretty well matched with my 400ish bhp Saph if not quicker
Long time no speak matey, 3 door looks good for some fun - get it on track!

Bloody hell its Phil as well, LOL
Not sure which of my many novas you went out in Phil, probably the red one when it had the turbo motor?
New toy is this one:
Its got the turbo motor from the old car, but tuned a little more and with a progressive nitrous kit.
Should be around 400bhp, is under 1000kgs and obviously has the grip advantage too as its mid engined RWD.
Cheers for the welcome mike.

Haha!!! Too right Chip!
Infact I've still got the old Clio still, I use it for work...... so watch out for me in rush hour!
Can't wait to see your little projects (mid engined nova + mini) when they are done!

The nvoa should be back on the road again soon, the 6 speed box has proved to be a headache though so far.
Mini is ages off, but 500bhp and 600kgs should be well worth the wait!

Couldn't you use an F20 and the quaife 6 speed straight cut gearset instead, if the F28 is prooving problematic?
The mini should be immense! If it doesn't tear itself to bits!

Chip, a good way to tell if its a genuine 500 (or used to be!) is that the aerial goes down when you open the boot to miss the extra lower spolier! Also the rear beam has some extra mounts on it used to pass homologation for the touring cars.

pretty much how it was when we went to France.

Phil, yeah it passes all those tests, so im as sure as you can be it was an RS500, irrelevant now though as its a Q plater now.
Porkie, ill get some more pics and specs in a few weeks when its running again.
Timrud, ive got a couple of f28s, easier to perservere with those than spend thousands on a quaiffe 6 speeder.

Rhys, im from somerset.
Im hoping to campaign the mini at ten of the best, the FWD nova i have no intentions of doing anything with that i dont use it for now, which is just the occasional RWYB and making local scooby owners cry their eyes out when they get dusted by a standard looking slightly tatty c reg nova
