i believe knockhill also now asks to see your licence although its been a while since i was on the track. they never used to. they used to allow anyone on with any old banger as long as they paid their cash.

I would imagine that ALL tracks own liability insurance would insist on it.

I would hope that you'd need to have a licence for ANY public trackday.

Yes you do for a track day, always - not for racing but you'd have your race licence for that

i remember speaking to 2 guys one track day at knockhill. they had just bought a mk2 golf gti from a scrappy for Ł50 and trailered it up to knockhill. they took it on the track even though it wasnt roadworthy and the guys mate had a shot of driving even though he didnt have a licence. that worried me as they wont care if they smash into your car as theyll just be dumping their car after the days driving anyway.
i believe its all changed nowadays though.

I emailed knockhill and asked.

A race license allows you to race without a driving license, but would not allow you to take part in a public trackday.

To do a trackday you need your uk road license, nothing more or less will suffice

if you want to drive on track young drifting has no limits as far as i know.
e.g. james deane driving at 15 and also the 13 year old who is doing quiet well in the north in a big hp 180
