Default My Throttle bodies project lol - lots of pics

well, so far they are pretty much nearly done, i took em round me mates house last night to get the bodies welded to the ally plate.

this is what i had to do...

to start with they are off a Suzuki GSXR 750, they are 42mm bodies.
i had to remove the electronically controlled butterflys (bottom ones) thus leaving me with just the cable operated ones.

i then had to measure and calculate the distances they had to be moved apart, and get some spacers made up

and for the linkages

then i had to work out what to do for the vaccums for the idle control and the brake servo, so i came up with using the injectors that were on the t/b's and getting some blanks made up with a straight through hole.

and then the rail had to be lenghtened to accomodate it all.

then i had to work out a way of blocking all the holes left by the electronic butterflys, i was gonna buy a tapping kit and put screws in the holes, but i had some silicon hose that i used to join them all together instead

then i had to workout a way to mount it all to the head, so i got an alloy EFI inlet manifold, and cut it to fukkery, and was left with just the plate after i filed it all down, by hand

and then i had to modify a fuel rail, to use with saph cossie dark blue injectors, done this so far, removed fuel return lug, and regulator housing. just need to finish it off with spacers for the cossie injectors as they are a bit longer than the zetec ones.

this is it all assembled

just waiting for the bodies to be welded to the plate now, and modding the 2 longer air horns to make the same length as the outer 2.

should get a carbon fiber airbox this week from mike rainbird, then off to simon next week for SECS S8 management

what ya'll reckon

not too sure on what gains as such, as its still running standard head and cams untill i can afford some fast road cams.

the car last rr'd at 166bhp and i have since added a focus ST170 4-2-1 manifold and gonna be getting S8 management and using cossie injectors

obviously 200bhp would be nice but im not really sure what to expect.

Really nice to see some innovation on here. Top job mate!

I think you are just the kind of bloke this forum needs more of.

Did the same sort of spacing job on some bike carbs i fitted with a mate on his 2.1 pinto. I will see if i can dig out some photos.

Looking good Dan!!
The gains you get aren't important, the satisfaction of having done it will be far greater!
Are you maping it on the throttle pot instead of airflow meter? (SECS should let you do that ?) You'll get lovely throttle response as a bonus then!!
And it will sound great too

The pictures do not do the end product any justice.

I have seen this setup and it looks completely pro to me !!!

Be nice not to worry about a turbo for a change during mapping

wow, cheers for the comments guys

its been a fair bit of pissing about to get this far, as for costs involved

the parts i had machined would have cost around Ł150 i guess, i got the t/bs off ebay for Ł90, then there is an airbox Ł110, then management, which i cant say at the mo.

(i got me old man to do the machining, so cost i fook all lol)

and when i sell my viper, unichip, polished induction pipe etc ill get most of the cost back

I'm quite interested in your car Fudge. I await the final result! I have no idea how throttle bodies work though! Maybe someone could explain.
