Default Anyone good at maths - can someone tell me how to work this out!

I have a bit of a problem as im not very good at maths!!!

Basically i need to work out a percentage and this is the question:

I am investing £400 into a buisness.
My mate is investing £300 into the same buisness.

So total investment is £700 - (Yes i can do that! )

However the intention was if we both invested the same amount of money then whatever profit we make we share 50/50 (ie, we both invested £400 each then profits would be split 50/50).
The problem is as he can only invest a smaller amount than me i need to work out the percentage of what he has invested in it so when it comes to the profit we can split it appropiately.(ie, 60/40 in my favour or whatever the answer is!)

Can someone work this out for me and tell me how you done it!

Sounds like big business

Anyway.

You each pay £7 per percent. So your share is 400/7. 57 ish, sorry no calc on here.

amount invested divided by total invested x 100
= 57% for £400 & 43% for £300

400 / 7 = 57 so i would get 57% profit and he would get 300 / 7 = 43%

That sounds right to me. Where did you get £7 from though?

And yeah we are not going multi national or anything!!!!

take the profit, divide it by seven and times it by 4 for your profit and 3 for his??

or 100 divided by 7 time by four = 57.14%
or your mate 100 divided by 7 times three = 42.86%

your share is £400 so divide by total number of units (700)

£400 / 700 = 0.57142857

Then multiply by 100 to get the percentage

Your share is 57.14 %

and to get your mates share, simply subtract your percentage form 100%

100.00 - 57.14 = 42.86

You 57.14%
Your mate 42.86%

hth
