Stopped for speeding?
I was rushing to work and got stopped just past chippenham heading to Bristol.
Copper in a dark blue BMW pulled me over and said he was following me for a few miles and i averaged around 95mph. He commented how good my driving was though!!!
He said as i had a clean license he was gonna put me down for doing under 90mph which is 3 points and £60fine. To be honest it was all my fault so i agreed.
However ive been to the cop shop to hand in my license and ive only got the photo part and lost the paper part.I also realised i didnt update my address details when i moved.I explained this to the girl on the front desk and she said she still has to put down that i "failed to provide my license" even though she phoned someone and got me an extension to give me time to get a new license.
Do i get fined more for this?
Also she told me dont pay the fine until i got my new license and a letter has been sent to me to explain all this.
On another note: my mate said i should say not guilty. He said to explain that i want to see evidence and when it shows me going over 90mph (copper had a tv in his car - but was by himself)to say that the camera in the car must have been faulty coz the copper has only done me for going UNDER 90mph and hence no evidence. My mate also said that the coppers cant do me because there was only one of them and there needs to be two policemen to have me speeding?
I wasnt going to worry about all this but how likely is it that i will get off it because of this?
I was just gonna pay the fine and get a new license and put up with the 3 points.
What do you guys think?

WIll i get fined more? The girl at the desk didnt mention about going to court. She said as i have an extension (even tho she put down I had failed to bring in my license!) I just take the letter and dockets back to the station when ive got my new license. She said the extension is about a month.
If he's got 'a tv' in his car... then it's more than likely recorded you breaking the law, so the fact the copper was on his own is irrelevant. He can submit that as evidence if you challenge it.
I'd take the 3 points and £60 fine.. if you're currently on a clean license then it'll make next to no difference for insurance anyway.
Cheers,
Grant

yeah i was thinking the same Alex.
My m8 is a bit of a blagger but then he drives like a tit all the time and has a clean license - but then hes rich enuf to pay the coppers off!

mate - i have been charged with similar speeds (in fact higher) I seriously would not bother fighting it take what he gives you - 3 points and a 60 quid fine is nothing.
I got banned for 42 days and also 28 days on spearate occassions and the fines were way way higher than 60 quid

forgetting to renew your licence can get you a big fine, so get it done and be happy that you've only got 3 points
if you wern't speeding and he gave you shit then i'd say fight it for all it was worth, but from some of the tales told here, it's sometimes just not worth going to the trouble and expense when they fuck you regardless of yuo being guilty of innocent

Yeah im def gonna accept it - just wondering if its gonna get worse coz the stupid bint at the station put me down as "failing to produce" even tho i had the photo bit of the license and she got me an extension for a month?
dont worry about failing to produce - io had that once and was cautioned twice in one day as a result. Just explain to the judge or copper the reasons why and they should be fine with it
i got stopped for drink driving(wasnt over limit)and speeding in march.took my producer to the station and only had the card part also.the bloke behind the desk sent that away but i got a letter asking for the paper part so i contacted the dvla and it cost £20 for both card and new paper licence.so sent them away when i got them.
Your mate clearly has no knowledge of the English legal system so please ignore him!
If you contested the speeding you would get hit for what the in car reading says. Regarding failing to produce, at worst I'd say a £60 fine at court, but more than likely it will be no seperate penalty.

it won't be a failure to produce, more like a producing late
failure to produce is when you don't make any effort and ignore the producer and then they send blokes round your house with a small stick to get you to open the door
as long as the docs are in order nothing will be done

You'll have it before you go to court, so this part will no doubt be "no evidence" from aoj/cps.
Your mate is a tit, if it's on camera, unless you are VERY lucky and they/he did not do that days calibration check, with another cop driving a car with calibrated speedo towards him or a set distance check etc then you will get done for what the jp/jd sees.
If this were not done it's inadmissible anyway, ask for evidence if necessary under advance disclosure rules.
If you go to a Magistrates court your screwed, as they always side with the police, the magistrates there can decide they have suffecient sentencing power and try you there but you can then enter a "no plea", and have then the option of going to crown court, like on tv but better as there is a jury there and you will get better/fairer/more accurate justice.
The magistrates have no say in the matter of a no plea, and cannot prevent you from taking it to the crown court.

bloody hell - all that seems a bit too much for me!!!
think i will just accept it, get a new license ordered today and just bite the bullet!
Im still bloody pissed i got a 6 month ban for 81 in a 50.. maybe because its id reached the 12 points allowed on my licence? Not a week goes by where i don't see someone clocked at liek 40 over the limit and got 3 points for it.. Id just accept the points mate!
When im driving again, i swear everything is going to be in check, my documents, all kept safe, in the correct names and adresses, ive done nothing but be a silly and careless since i started driving, i must have paid over £500 of fines for failing to tax vehicles ( i didnt own and logbook went walkies and i didnt inform DVLA ) etc... Gets so depressing when your just constantly paying into the donut fund... lol

Take the 3 points and sixty quid mate, job done. You're mate's talking out of his arse, the five O was good enough to reduce the speed to 90, could have been a cunt and do you for the full speed.
