you are probably one of these "priccila queen of the desert" types who like "arty" films
talking of that, i watched schindlers list the other day for the first time, and fuck me that's a brutal look at how some people got their kicks, i was utterly flabbergasted at what went on

What sort of film do you want to watch?
For a psychological thriller/horror I don't personally think there are many western films to match Jacob's Ladder [some of the Jap stuff is cracking but you don't want subtitles!].
Out and out scarefest, Event Horizon is great imo.
British/lowish budget/bit tongue in cheek but plenty of "tense hide behind the cushion" moments, you can't go wrong with Dog Soldiers
You probably did it without realising, but that's the most sense you've ever made
I watched that on fast forward and felt like I wasn't missing out on anything but I still feel robbed that I gave Ł3 for it from Tesco. On 20x fast forward it was still the most boring 5 minutes of my life Terrible, terrible film.

'the mist' is actually quite a good watch, not the greatest, but definitely worth a mooch
1 of the freakiest films iv seen for a while has to be 'mirrors'. so id suggest that as an option too

The ladies love it French
I've seen 100's, this one I thought was pretty good and a break from the usual horror format:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450385/
Plus its based on a Stephen King novel so is always going to be fucked up.

Do NOT watch that new one 'drag me to hell'. What a load of shite it is! Im a complete scaredy-cat and i was the slightest bit unnerved.
The best one i've seen lately is Eden Lake.

shrooms is a shocking film. Couldn't get into it at all
i rented out a cheapy one called "seed" the other day. just watching the bit where he puts a dog/baby/kid/teenager/adult in 1 room at different times to watch them die of starvation then decompose makes you think
the only horror things that i find unable to watch are some of the real life death vids on liveleak or reading stories of ancient/wartime torture or executions
truly shocking stuff

Apparently "[REC]" is very good, but is subtitled. They made a UK version called "Quarantine" which is apparently no where near as good.
New one's out are:
Mirrors (Not bad, but not very scary)
My Bloody Valentine (Apparently very good)
Quarantine
[REC] (Apparently very scary)
Can't remember anymore atm.

Watch 'The Ring' if you're bored of sleeping and fancy spending the next few nights sitting in your bed sweating and shitting yourself thinking the girl is going to come out of the TV and get you!
That could have just been me though

I'm guessing you are talking about the American Remake cos if you are its not scary at all. The Original Japanese one pissed all over it.

Yeah i've heard that mate, but i saw the American one it scared the shit out of me! I dunno, maybe it's just that style of movie, the phycological sort, i just don't get on with it too well! Texas Chainsaw Massacre etc no problem at all.

Aye, original Ring is much better, I think its called Ringu? Anywayz, much better than the scared stiff face the victims have when killed....Scary Movie made it look more convicing and that's a spoof!

Yeah, bit of a rip off of House on the Haunted Hill. Well, same kinda plot. Old mental hospital, people go in, horrible stuff happens blah blah blah
