Agreed, the ending is well unbeliveable! Quite shocking, amazing and sh*t at the same time. But the whole American biblical crap is really annoying...best bit is when the self proclaimed preacher get's a bullet in her mouthy head!

The Mist was okay, but it wasn't THAT great......
Shrooms was complete shite, as are most of the American remakes of Jap flicks... REC was okay, but I also get annoyed by subtitled films... I was also bitterly disappointed by The Strangers - there could have been a whole lot done with that, and it just wasn't explored anywhere near enough. Same with a lot of recent films tho...
Teeth is good if you want a laugh, and Creep isn't bad either...
Don't bother with Midnight Meat Train (Vinny Jones) - shit film.
There are a few good remakes tho - the Texas Chainsaw remake (and subsequent prequel) were very good, as was the recent Friday The 13th remake. Rob Zombie's "Halloween" was superb - not a complete remake but rather a variation on the original. Can't wait for it's sequel!

Hence why I said psychological horror's are more scary, there's nowt out there that cuts it at the mo. I've seen the new Halloween "H2" film, really good and brings the whole genre to the 21st century. And that feeling of movies "being done to death" isn't really noticable, such as the new Star Trek and Batman movies. New spin on things

Alien? Best film of all time, never mind horror.
Recent ones are all shite, I went to see My Bloody Valantine and that was crap. Pretty funny in 3d though! The Mist is decent, so is Mirrors. Out the two id say Mirrors is the spookiest. IT made me crap my pants when I was little, had nightmares for ages! Never watched it since, would probley seem really tame now though

the original hitcher, with rutger hauer, is a properly bonkers film
the remake, with sean bean, is more of a modern day tale of crazy people out there
and on those lines, the original jeepers creepers is a scarey film, part 2 is a little bit more comedy but you still think "holy sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at some points

I'd go with Texas Chainsaw Massacre (classic, really good, not super gorey, but just really suspenseful), or newer you could try The Descent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Descent)

Wolf Creek, its about an oddball who lives in the Austrailian outback and does horrific things to a set of lost travellers. 'Supposed' to be a true story. More than just the incidents the way its portrayed is down right evil.
Was the first horror to actually spook me a bit. Made in 2003

The quality of horror films just seems poor nowadays, that's why they have to keep remaking the original ones and doing a shite job at that too,
recently I have viewed
Mirrors, quite spooky
Splinter, ok ish
Devils tomb ok ish
Personally I like a good supernatural horror, all these gore fest ones, saw, hostel etc etc, seen one seen them all kinda thing

The ones that stick in my mind from over the past 12 months are:
The Messengers
The Univited
Strangers
Mirrors
Every time I watch a film called Dark Water, it gives me the chills when the woman realises that the little girl she's reading a story too isn't hers and her daughter is still in the bath... you have to watch it but it gets me every time....lol

So she continued to go upstairs and as she passed her daughters room, she saw her Daughter was asleep . She ran back downstairs and the TV was off and her 'Daughter' wasn't there.
I read that and i was thinking 'Fuck That Shit' lol.

a remake of the cube with a big budget and hollywood effects might work, but would it been seen as a saw clone?
and have you sen that one about the stranger wholives in the london underground system? first half of it is properly freaky, second half sort of went a bit shit i thought

I really liked Quarantine.
Tried watching Paranormal Activity last night but fell asleep, not due to it being boring, just really tired. Looked ok from what I saw.
Dojj, that film about the underground you're talking about is "Creep". And yeah, fantastic start, then "WTF??", and it all goes S.H.I.T!

The Last House On The Left had a really graphic rape scene, both me and the person I watched it with were so shocked it was unreal..
It was a case of "He's not gonna do what I think he's gonna do is he? .. surely he won't.. but.. OMFG!!! why did they keep this in!!!!"

is that one "cabin fever"? doesnt it end ready for a sequel if I remember right. Got to admit out of all the ones mentioned above I really didnt like mirrors, first film in a long time where I just wanted it to end, and wanted him to stop going in that fucking building!!!
