PassionFord Post Whore!!
lets put it this way, the iphone that is currently on sale have 8gb or 16gb of memory, the new ones (3gs) will have 16gb or 32gb of memory.
But for me i will, for the time being,be sticking with my 3g iphone, even if it means losing a few movies or songs to make space.
INCEDENTLY-how many people on here use the iphone as an ipod and if so how many hours do you get out of it before the battery dies??

No matter what is said about what the iphone lacks.... in all fairness, it doesnt! I have been doing phone-to-phone transfer via bluetooth for ages, so yes, iphone can do that.
Ok, so Apple are tight tw@ts and keep these features hidden away, but thats where the other Devs come into it and allow you to access what Apple want you to not know about.
Video recording, MMS sending, Multiple image emailing, grouping, group texting/emailing, bluetoothing........ man, the list is endless - Its all been possible on the 3G and is still on the 3GS.
Compare say a N95/N96 to an iphone and what advantages are there to one and not the other.... A high resolution camera on the N Series (granted), but still its not a 'true' 5MP cam ... The N Series allows for flash.... Thats all i can think of actually. Oh, and it allows mp3 playback as mp3's.
iphone: highest tech in touch screen, fastest flowing motion with that screen. It can do almost f*cking anything you want it too with its billions of apps available.... I mean can your N Series phone warn you when ya missus is due on or tell you the BHP of the car you are in? Can it lead you to the nearest hole in the wall or restaurant when you are lost in the middle of no-where? Com'on! It has upto twice the amount of onboard memory than the N Series could only dream about. Its sleek, its smooth styled, oh and its not the size of half a house brick!
End of the day, i have owned both iphone and N Series. I was going to upgrade my N95 to an N96, but thought i'd take the gamble on the iphone - and I'm so glad I did! I aint no phone geek, programmer geek or any of that, but i know a good thing when i see it.
My 2 cents worth sorry

N95 for me was a waste of time, always crashed, even though had the latest firmware, and just nasty. Definitely a "playground toy" (for me anyway).
Chap at work is very up on his WM devices, and manufacturers as just trying to mimick the iphone usability. WM devices just use a widget installed over the top of the OS, which in turn makes it slow and cumbersome.
I was VERY much WM devices a few years ago, but the iphone just destroys everything for usability.
Symbian OS?

The 3.0 update will add mms, Bluetooth, landscape texting, even extend your battery life, but it won't increase your memory upto 32GB, increase pixel in the camera, allow compass accessibility, video creating/editing or zoom and auto focus functions... Won't make it twice as fast as normal either.
As for the iPod usage question.... I use it as an iPod for work. After a 10 hour shift, I have plenty of battery left, and that's with volume at max! iPhones battery is great!

Have you watched the video of the new 3GS yet? Did you watch the WWDC demonstration of it? It's on apples site and YouTube... Then make your mind up then.

I had the very first Iphone when it came out, i hated the thing so much, after 2 months i threw it and smashed the screen into a million bits. Though from what i gather its a lot better now with the updates. I have asked my mate who works in O2 to keep a 3G S for me on Friday, she gets me a discount on it so ill give it a go and see how it works

the 3.0 firmware is JB'd, but the Devs aren't releasing it until 3.0 is released officially. They say Apple could possibly still update 3.0 up till release day (Wednesday). Makes sense really. Best advice is to wait till Wednesday, update, then jailbreak when released... Which could well be Wednesday too. Most important JB software is now in 3.0 anyway, except video, obviously.
All Devs have been busy upgrading and tweaking apps while 3.0 was in beta mode.
There's an app on cydia/icy that backs up your jb apps. It's called aptbackup. One touch backup! Then all you do is, after fresh jailbreak, install aptbackup again and click restore -they all come back!!! Simples
