Default How much more awkward to work on cosworth 4x4

im gonna be starting a new project soon in the shape of a mk6 cosworth fiesta (jwrc style)

now all the rallycross cars and the am sport fiesta and the orange one in pf a while back are all 4x4 so this is the route i want to go but how much of a pain is 4x4 to work on etc as we all know being a cossie it will spend half its life apart

i wont go too silly on power as i want it reliable so will stay around the 450bhp mark so transmission isnt too costly,

anyone got underside pics of the 4x4 set up as opposed to the 2wd set up,

or the other question being could i ever get a rwd mk6 fiesta to handle well enough to be quick round a track

cheers
marc

im good thanks mate, glad to see your carrying on despite your set backs

mk7 would be too expensive, even just getting the bare shell and i want it to be a replica rallycross/jwrc car so has to be a mk6

Only my own personal view mate, but its going to cost a bloody fortune to build it so why not go for something totally bonkers and new!..

Go along the lines of this one..

The new Pikes Peak Fiesta

Sure this is the mk7 Fiesta I cant keep up as im stuck in the past with the mk3

no dont do it mate stick with the mk6 as i personally think the mk7 shell is really ugly but thats just my opinion, as for rwd i think you are going to struggle with such a short wheel base (again in my opinion) and big bhp , what i would do is build it 4x4 and try it if you like it then bonus and if you dont then disconnect the front prop making it rwd, or if your really stuck on rwd then bang the engine in the boot , now that would get it going
check out staurt meads mini zetec turbo on youtube and how that shifts with the engine in the boot

heres a few nice ones of the best shape fiesta (and i do love the mk3 luca , gave my shell a goodbye wave 2 weeks ago)

been told the discount for ford employees on bodyshells is roughly 15% so -

mk 6 fiesta shell new = Ł1870.00

mk 7 fiesta shell new = Ł3025.00

both are too expensive imo so il prob stick with the mk6 and buy a complete good car so i have bits needed like lights etc

porkie - the thing is the bm is loosing money and track toys always end up costing triple what you think but 70% of the enjoyment i get is from the building of the car from start to finish, and the bm i dont even really use so i get no enjoyment from it although they are fantastic cars for what they now cost,

TONY - did the doran cars use the original rear turrets as in your pic or was the rear cage and turrets cut out and modified/enlarged after them pics were taken???

cheers

This was from the same "Batch " of new shells but its vastly different to a Rallycross shell , this ones being done ( slowly , which explains the surface corrosion in places ) as more of a roadcar and a "Because he could " car , might even be for sale as a roller .
