what can you do?
I can't be violent because I already got abh.
is there any cheap legal procedure that i can take??

eh? so you bought a car, but registered it in his name? fallen out with him, now you want hime to pay up for the car?
if thats the case mate, then as far as i know there is no legal stuff, as legally its his car, not yours and you dont have anything to say its yours... sorry chap.

Ring the citizen's advice bureau.
iirc It clearly states on the V5 that the registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner.
No idea how your stuff written down would affect things if you wanted to take the CCJ path. Speak to C.A.B and get proper advice!

As said County Court is where you need to ring, ask for a claim pack, or just do it online, will cost £35, but you can add that to the claim also, if he doesn't respond to the court, you can ask for judgement, which would virtually be automatic in this case, then he gets CCJ, and you have options to get money from him, ie Garnishee order(bank account freeze), take goods etc.
BUT, there is a much simpler way, until paid for in FULL title does NOT become his, and remains yours, ie take the car back drive it away if you still have key etc, or by any other means, and you break no law whatsoever, if he calls plod, just show them paperwork you have, it is a CIVIL matter not legal as it is not theft, you are within your rights to keep all the money he has paid and the car, but might stir him on to pay up.

Have a look at a site www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk, should be able to find out what you can do, how to do it etc, on there. Some knowledgeable people on there, worth a look.
Similar situation with my accountant, she was given a car by her fella, but on breaking up, he wanted the car back, claiming she had said she had terminal cancer and the idea was that when she croaked it in a years time he would get the car back.
She had trader her car in against it and he had paid the remainder.
She had the log book and the car, and spoke to the police who said because he had paid for it, she would be strongly advised to change the locks (he had a key) to prevent him talking the car back before the legal side was sorted.
BEWARNED it was an extreme case, but she lost out to the tune of 50k with court costs etc - has nearly ruined her - all for a car that is worth about 10k now lol!!
He also had contacts in the media and got her dragged over the mages of the major national and local papers (double page spreads in most cases!!) so all her clients and neighbours got a good read!!

it does state on a log book, that log book IS NOT proof of ownership,
like fininace cars, they belong to the finance company until its paid off, even tho log book is in your name,
take ur contract to a solisitor n ask for advice mate

you should be able to get the car back! all you need is proof that you payed for the car!
a mate of mine bought a car for his gf, they have now broke up, was given to her for xmas, she then had the cheek to report it stolen when they broke up becuase he kept the car, but because he had proof that he payed for the car the police let him keep it.
