Default How easy is it to remove an aftermarket filler cap?

I'll post a close up picture later. But how easy/hard will it be to change the filler cap back to standard? I've no idea how it's fixed on, are they normally put on using adhesive strips or something?

Any help appreciated.

most of them are adhesive strips like you say so a hairdryer and some Autogym tar remover with the blue label will do the trick.

heat it up and try to peel it off and if theres any sticky stuff left then use the tar remover rub some on leave it 10 - 20 and rub again and it will come straight off

Cheers JB

I'll give it a go.

Must remember to get a new filler cap first though.

How does the lock work? Will it drop out and go in the original filler cap? Or will I need a new lock as well?

good question bet when you buy a new filler cap you can get one with a key normally after market ones come with there own key well mine did on my 106 but then you can get one that stick on everything the cap and around it to but i dont know what a S1 cap looks like carnt remember.

It's a Dimma cap so just sticks over the original. You won't need to replace the cap itsel unless that one is knackered.

Hairdryer to warm the glue up and it should peel off. Then just clean the residue up with some AutoGlym and your in business.

I had a look (in the dark!) and it seems that it's exactly how you said.

Was going to sort it tomorrow, but I'm feeling pretty down about the S1 now!

Thanks anyway.
