Default brake piston tool?

Got some rear pads to do on my brothers st170 and thought I would look into getting a proper tool to push the pistons back, rather than struggling with them as usual! Any recomendations, as there seems to be a few different types.

A long bar

Seriously though, unless it's a shitty rusty old car (like a cosworth ) i usually just refit the caliper minus the pads and use a pry bar to gently push the pistons back.

If it needs winding back in then most motor factors sell a tool for about a tenner.

because of the different sizes of piston, the kits are about 20odd quid i think for a cheap set but to be honest you can manage with decent molegrips to turn the piston in! make sure the pistons adjusted out so the pads are just binding on the disc when re-fitted.

im not sure, but there maybe a coarse thread on these pistons, if they have, dont just lever them back cos you'll fook up the threads and pistons.

worth phoning Ford or someone first maybe to check on what i just said.

I had wind in rear pistons on my old Punto GT, piece of piss, just use 2 adjustable spanners, ghetto style.

Use one to locate into the grooves into the piston, and then use the other to turn that one and wind the piston back in, job done in 2 mins.

have used bars / clamps / molegrips etc in the past, but would rather use the right tool tbh. So st170 pistons are defo wind in? will get down the motor factors for the tool then
