How do you tell if your gearbox is on its way out????

Default How do you tell if your gearbox is on its way out????

think mine is making a noise, bit hard to tell where its coming from cos the zorst is soo fukkin loud

anyone got a zetec g/b with low miles on?

try changing the oil for starters, if its had some stick and has never been changed, the oil can break down aad go like rat piss and not act like oil anymore.

i re filled it not that long ago i think, but i do always give it some, specially at the traffic light grand prix

i think its the original box which has done nearly 100k miles, but the rest of the engine, and everything else had done 45k max/replaced in the last 6 months

drives fine, just making a noise, say at 50 in 4th, accelerate then let off, kinda whirring noise...??

input shaft bearings, might be worth gettin git done now before it get worse and may fail causing x amount of big spend or a recon box.

if its in 4th, which is direct dive throu, more than likely shaft bearings.

how hard is it to replace the shaft bearings??

and how much, cos 2nd hand boxes are pretty cheap i think
