Default just done the head gasket , problem, any ideas???

h reg 4x4 saf coz, just done head gasket, put wrc 1.44 cometic gasket on, put it all back togetther and the car now idles at 2k, if you disconnect the idle valve it idles fine but when you turn it off and straight back on it struggles a bit to start , the idle valve is working fine as ive changed it for another one which i know is working perfect and the prob is sttill there, it never did this before doing the gasket so its obviously summit that has happednd during the work, any ideas??? i took the idle valve out and it seems to be wet,please give me an idea on wtf it could be

Sounds to me like its an inlet air leak after the throttle flap - which is why when you pull the idle valve off it still idles - in theory it should stall if you do this - the engine is getting air from somewhere in order for it to carry on running!! You sure the throttle cable aint jammed open or summat??

if you take the plug off the isc and the car ticks over as it should something is telling the ecu to open the ics

have you had the TPS off from teh inlet manifold...?

if so, it should be refitted with its holes exactly halfway along their elongations.

check at the ecu with the engine not running at pins 30 and 17 and you should read between 0.2 and 0.25 volts DC with it in this position. this is what it should be.
