Default Court tomorrow!! (update: I WON)

Just getting the ole tin flute ready and my "evidence" to try and defend myself! Got parts of the car (lower arm that was ripped off), pics of area and road and video of steering wheel free spinning after cos it isnt attached to the steeing rack anymore.

Solicitor still thinks its a 50/50 cos the cops will just say they cautioned me when they hadnt before they started asking me certain questions!

Typical, for once i was actually not doing anything daft and they are trying to screw me, Alot to be said for karma !!

Hmmm maybe getting the bus back home tomorrow!

In a 130 zone surely?

I remember now, lots of damage for a 'minimal' speed.

i remember that one

depends on how much damage the other cars suffered really, they cause loads ofdamage in that lv advert with the ovlov smashing everyones motors up down the street so it's totally possible, and you'd do worse than to make sure you use that to back up your case if they ask for examples

Well it got adjourned ???? Because one of the cops didnt turn up!

Oh and might i add, the highway code states that you should stop the car in 6 car lengths at 30mph. I did it in 5......the cop says he thought i was doing "at leaast 50 + to do the damage to 5 cars" (that were parked bumper to bumper and all i did was rub up the sides of them!! And the highway code says at 50 its 13 car lengths.....not that hard to work out then really is it..

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAn...code/DG_070304

Ah well will neeed to wait another 2 months!! I have a pretty solid case all set up now with my lawyer, should do it cost enough. But you never know. I know people have their own opinions but last time a few got a bit....eh....lippy! I dont care, i know the truth and am willing to fight my case. Even if its costing a fortune. For once i wasnt doing anything naughty..

Would it have been adjourned had you not turned up? I don't think so.

but he's not the police, who cuold be doing more important things like sitting in the station doing paperwork for all these peole who throw a fag butt out the window of a car and have to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

they have priorities you know, and if he's had to pay out lots of money and take time off work etc and get stressed out over possibly losing his job then that's not their fault is it

Well fuck me if you're on the brakes and using parked cars to slow you, I think the stopping distance would fall a little

Besides highway code is for Model T Ford I think, so hardly an achievement knocking a car length off it; I bet a fully laden 44 tonner could stop within the quoted distances.

i was gonna say that,,,, 6 car lengths is for a OLD car with drum brakes on the front,,,,,,, and ill admit im not 100% but i dont think its refering to using 6 cars to slow your car down to a stop.... i thought it was 6 imaginary cars lengths,,,,,,, though i havent got a upto date highway code to hand to confirm so i could be wrong pmsl

better tell my missus when she goes for her test about the new emergency stop..... rub the car down parked cars to help slow the car and save that child with hes football

" stooppppp" bang, smash, crash, sqeeeeeeek,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, check blind spot and pull away when its safe to do so

not sure thats so true either,, you ever seen the first scene of "beverly hills cop " he seemed to use more than 5 car lengths to slow that truck down but that did also have a extra trailor on the back of it so again not the same thing i guess

A 44 tonner is a little more advanced than an early 80's yank wagon mate!
You'd be very surprised how quickly modern wagons stop, 44 tonners especially as it all had to be improved when the weight was allowed to be upped.

Yeah, i know a few people would be but when you see the pics of cars, (two of which we didnt realise were actually even damaged until 1/2 hr later) road etc and why the car wouldnt steer its kinda easier to see, Its very hard to explain to people over the net the facts.

Well chuffed. Would have lost my licence and now it will be clen in less than a month!!!

Anyone point me in the direction of the original posting?

Personally I'm amazed you got off - no steering or not. Its not like the courts to listen to a reasonable technical argument.
Also - how the hell did you manage to trash the steering in the first place?
Lck of maintenance would still make it your fault so I'm assuming it wasnt that.
