Default 650+bhp engine now underway already

DIY

GT35 with external wastegate complete for £1150 Is that a good price????...(obviously got to suss out specs i need)

So all systems go...Escos is a no no now...its the engine instead keeping the original 400 bhp plus lump as back up

The next very interesting bit is...apparently there is no need for a new manifold as a certain source has made an adapter for the original 2wd manifold which IS the way i am going before anyone disses it

As for spec...that is going to be secret...rest assured you WILL see a dyno BHP figure!

But you said you were scared of 400 BHP due to lack of traction/grip????????

The only thing I will say is with these adapters, I have yet to see one that offers the kind of wastegate control that the proper inlet manifolds do. If being unable to adjust the boost below 20psi is not a problem for you, then .

Any help you need, let me know .

You was telling everyone these engines were laggy and useless a few weeks back

Your planning 650bhp+ from a GT35? Good luck

Is this one going to be proven and used, or are you just building it to go shouting about owning a 650bhp Cossie, with no proof at all, like the 2 450bhp ones and so on...

Steve i can assure you my previous/current engine had/has over 400bhp facto...if you read the post, youd see this is going to be dynoed ...I beleive the GT35 is capable of 675bhp from very reliable sources on there limit....but only time will tell and tbh it will probably see 600plus no probs but then immediately blow to pieces

Get ready Steve as unlike you all my builds are not dreams

Well you won't get 650bhp out of a GT35 then . You'll need at least 2.3 bar and some PROPER head work and cams .

675bhp? If you look at the compressor map for a GT35, you will see that it is "just about" a 600bhp turbo .

Phil, for a top speed run, you may be better off with a GOOD T4 conversion + big shot of NOS - would work out cheaper this way

Phil,
I'm talking like for like, Martin has run both at the same compression ratio and the GT35 is MORE responsive than a T4 .

Doug...if i wanted advice i'd ask Jim Galbally not you! BTW this isnt a huge budget bill as i wont be paying inflated prices

SECS i am not sure yet depends if i can get the mapper of my choice (not deceided who yet, obviously in conjuction with me!) to do it...plus i'd like a new ecu not this demo one if thats possible unless you can assure me this is perfect 100% in your own mind..even though its working great this is a slightly different scenario and i want new stuff!

6 paddle clutch
standard t5 box
and of course standard diff
or have you changed your mind on that aswell as laggy monsters

Bosch Man,

Phil, The DEMO ecu you have has been 100% faultless.

Yes it is not a brand new one but it is on loan to you until such time you make
your choice to keep it or not.
It is NOT in my interest to loan out NEW units as if the case gets even one small
scratch it becomes second hand.
If you decide to keep it or exchange it for a brand spanking new one, either way
it carrys full warranty.
Please just decide sooner rather than later as I think my original 3 months
loan offer has well expired but I will let you have a LITTLE while longer.

I for one, hope you are successful in this engine build but take your time !!

phil even i am not aim that high with my engine build

i was going to be a 600bhp engine, but then the costs and reliability issues are far greater than a 450-550 bhp engine.

So thats what i've set my sites on. Its a big margin but anywhere in there i will be happy as im speccing the can to handle the power well, i.e not just slap a 600bhp engine in a standard car and hope the car holds together.

Im going everthing right first time and doing it once. I.e Gearbox, Diff, Beam, Brakes, Suspension, Wheels.

maybe you should think about changing those 205 tyres of yours before you put this monster engine in.

can see the future thread titles now
