This is true DIY as its in my shed with just me and a Rottweiler ...plus i will be involved in the mapping Plus it will be my spec ...You will no doubt beat my effort as you have elected for a higher rpm than i will go....but i feel mine should be more reliable because of a lower RPM.....tbh you have never been mocked like i have...many beleive you are a pro...this for me will i hope promote my Bosch business from the bhp and speed acheived....i aint gonna be no track car!

So thats what i've set my sites on. Its a big margin but anywhere in there i will be happy as im speccing the can to handle the power well, i.e not just slap a 600bhp engine in a standard car and hope the car holds together.
Im going everthing right first time and doing it once. I.e Gearbox, Diff, Beam, Brakes, Suspension, Wheels.
maybe you should think about changing those 205 tyres of yours before you put this monster engine in.
can see the future thread titles now

Brom / Ryan,
I have spoken to Phil and he seems genuinely prepared to change the parts required (I have insisted on adequate brakes) . He even wants to put a Zoo beam and diff on , so I believe this is in order .
Phil,
The spec of turbo that Vince is going to sell you is comfortable at about 610-620bhp, you would have top push it some to get 650 (but it is doo-able providing the rest of the hardware is suitable ) and 675 would have it on it's knees .

Fair play Broomy....good luck with the engine rebuild...in no way is mine in any other competition to yours other than top speed in which it will be specced for....
Targets are 650bhp - 190mph - 8000rpm max rev ceiling
Apparently i should be able to gear it for 220mph
Phil, new outright price PLEASE NOTE i have an account with a couple of turbo places hence the trade price...you wouldnt get the same i hope

Phil,
No I found out that the GT35 that Vince is speccing is a 61lb per minute turbo .
http://not2fast.wryday.com/turbo/maps/
Check out the T61 - think it would be pretty good - and look at the flow of the T66 .

DEYTUKURJERBS
How about a turbo with potentially 840bhp of compressor flow?
Choice of exhaust housings from .58 upto .98
Youl probably be the only person in the UK with one but proven in the USA, and i can get you one new for 5-600quid delivered im pretty sure.
Tho that might be too big

If 650bhp is ok from a GT35 then thats what it will be i guess...i think aiming for 700plus is a tad silly
Whats the T61 then??.....Lag wise/cost etc etc?

i can get parts cheaper mate, but "quality" doesnt come cheap
Here's a rough guess going by high street prices
Engine 6k starting from scratch say.
Turbo 1k
Brakes 1k+
Suspension and bushes £500
Beam £1k
Diff £1k
Box £1-2k
So thats about 12k and then add all the other litte bits, i.e wheels
another 1k including tyres for proper tyres.
So 13k and im sure it will cost more

I would of thought that to have it underway all he needs is a block sat at home and a list of possible parts
Good luck Phil with the project

Will need around 800bhp to beat the Topspeed record Phil, better start a re-Spec already.

This should keep Phil centre stage for a couple of years before he does another 'U' turn & does something completely different.
How about a Skyline engine in a Nissan Micra Phil.

i know brom that was going for average parts at cheap prices.
Breaks for a proper car your look at 2k front and rear.
Suspension closer to 600-700
Turbo £1500-2000 including extrernal gate annd work needed.
so its just gone up another 2k+
This is why i decided not to go done this route the price jump is huge.
