Default 205 gti or 206 gti

ok i know i had a thread the other week about a zetec s but having driven 1 its not for me i am a fat fucker after all lol

205 gti
VS
206 gti

remembering that there is gonna be alot of work carried out full multipoint cage etc etc etc
what would be better for track
i know the 205 would be cheaper but the 206 is winning at the moment as i miss my old 206 track slag

any opinions or dirty pics welcome lol

I've only driven a couple of 206GTi's and they just did nothing for me. 205GTi's excite me everytime I drive one. That's just imho of course

It just all feels very brittle in the shift. The box and what have you does its job and has never given a whiff of bother but it just feels like it's not built to last

im not too sure, i would have thought the whole standard gti6 into a 205 has bin done, and a mate of mine has supercharged his 6, running on standard internals at 0.6bar hit 259bhp. i spose room could be an issue, but worth a further look in?

is a 206 cup car within your budget? they are quick! and easily rival a well prepped 205 GTI.

If you are going to go to town on it... then a 306 GTI-6.. they have the right engine to start with. and they are a good chassis.. as good as a 205
who knows! you'd have your work cut out making it as light as a 205 though

standard 206 GTi is only 130 bhp ! shocking! the old 205 had that, and a lot less weight!

either one i choose will be a complete project as my old 206s cage was pointless to be honest
but a cup car there about 11K from what i can see

my old one was 180bhp at 9,000rpm(atw) but the tuning company that worked on the car no names mentioned cut some massive corners
charged me for work they didnt do but i got my revenge in the end

Well this is of course a matter of opinion and what I'm to say, I'm not really into Pugs...

BUT I wouldn't even need to think this, 205 of course!

I think the 206 is more like just a bit sportier shopping trolley. 205 is the proper one, I bet way more fun to drive too.

This is his drive way:

He also has a 306 rallye with under 300 miles on it from new, another 306 rallye that he is touring car reppin and a V6 clio, 306 gti6, a std 1.9 205 gti, 205 track car and a 306 hdi and maybe a few more that i have missed out!
