Default Looking for a job in the tuning industry? Apply within...

Will is moving back into full time education so we are looking looking to take on a new vehicle technician / Workshop manager to replace Will in July this year.

The successful applicant will be expected to work 40 hrs per week minimum and be responsible for the general running of the workshop and dealing with retail customers both in person and via telephone.

Technical knowledge and the ability to work unsupervised is absolutely essential and the wage will vary according to age and experience. I consider people wages a private matter and will release details upon successful application with valid CV only.

The applicant will receive all product and vehicle specific skills from me directly (IE: Lancer or Cosworth specific tuning knowledge for example) and will be required in time to learn how to live map with training from me personally. Obviously this skill will only be picked up with time and experience but I will only take on somebody with a keen intention to learn this part of the trade, so if you are scared of computers and fast cars, please don't apply.

Edited to add:
Bear in mind this is no dream job, its technically just a job in a small backstreet workshop but it does offer those with a keen interest of engines and their inner workings a possibility to learn a lot more about them than any normal technicians job will bring. Not many technicians I have ever met can tell me if a cars running lean under acceleration or too close to the det line, nor have I ever met one that could tell the difference between an engine running high boost and low advance and one running high advance and low boost just by driving it. The successful applicant will be taught such skills, as well as what sort of fuel and ignition engines need to operate correctly and how to apply them correctly and safely. They will operate diagnostics on a daily basis and be taught what to look for in datastreams. They will also attend any diagnostics courses that Sun offer locally at my cost.

The other side to the job is you will get to see and experience the mail order tuning side of the industry as we have 90+ operators out there who we supply calibrations for on a daily basis and the successful applicant will learn quite a lot about how this side of the industry works and likely get to deal with these tuners on a daily basis. Again, if your interested in such things, then my business is one of the few places you can learn this.

Whilst it can be stressful here, I do believe we are a good company to work for. Whilst nobody can predict the future in this economic climate I am pleased to say we have grown larger every year since we opened back in 2000 and have just posted a better turnover in Quarter 1 2009 than the whole of 2008 so I believe our growth in the tuning sector proves your job security is as good or better than anywhere else in this industry. You will be paid by BACS on time every time and overtime is usually available most weeks.

Please send all applications via E-Mail ONLY to sales@remapping.co.uk with an up to date CV and an indication of your required salary.

Yes - doing a degree in Autosport Technology

The job itself is varied, exciting and different, no two days are the same - one of the reasons i have enjoyed the last 2 years in it.

However, i turn 24 at the end of the month and currently am young, free and single with no mortgage/wife etc. so it is a 'now or never' move.

If anyone is thinking about it and wants to know more i'd be more than happy to discuss it with them.

Stu and Kenny are good people to work for

I sure do. However, liking fast cars and computers does not mean you can calmy adjust a fuel table whilst watching an AFR meter at the same time as accelerating hard in a very fast car. It actually takes quite some experience to be honest.

Will, thanks. Your a top employee too.

Drop a CV in Tim, you've got a good background and you're keen

I'd personally not done a huge amount with Cosworths when i started, i'd cut my teeth on Evos/Skylines/Supras/200SX's. You won't be thrown into the workshop and made to 'just get on with it' - there'll be a month's side by side training from me before i go!

Don't be shy, if you're interested, apply

You two lads who feel your lacking a little experience, please drop me a CV.

I do tend to put enthusiasm above initial skill as long as you have the ability to learn fast without too much trouble.
