it's because the gearbox sensor is not fitted, there is an easy free cure which my m8 did to my track car xr4x4(24v) can't remember what it is exactly but basicly raise the tick over
post up on here in the 24v section and you will get the answer no prob
http://www.fordpower.org.uk/
edit sorted it
1/start the engine and warm it up..
2/ idle screw (on the left side of throttle body) screw this right in hard and leave it.
3/ once warm disconect the iscv
4/ ajust the butterfly stops till ya have 7 to 800rpm on the revcounter
5/reconect the iscv..
now what should happen, the idle speed will be set manualy above the ecu setting, this means the iscv has less effect but iit will not be needed as much.. it changes the authority of it if you see what i mean..
this is what was done on mine and it's perfect

follow youth's procedure
however its to be noted that that isn't a cure to fix a fault, its just setting the base idle correctly. there are similar procedures for pretty much every engine

i tought this is also caused by lack of vechicle speed sensor, which is a trianglur plug on late model mt75 gearboxes or else mid ways on a 2.8xr4x4 speedo cable, which you have to connect to the ecu?

indeed guys, nomatter what the ECU is doing if you set the base idle correctly then the engine can't stall. as it doesnt matter what the ISCV does it cant drop the idle below the stalling point
also a lot of the stuff about VSS etc. is actually a load of old coblers. most of those sensors are only relevant to the autobox and won't actually cause issues with the running when fitted with a manual gearbox, the ECU doesnt go into LOS and thats the only thing that would fuck up.

setting the base idle IS propper
also cleaning the throttle goes a long way to curing a lot of idle problems as most are full of crud
