Default Tony Turbo. There's nothing to see, Tony, please move along.

As most of you know, although some may not, Tony Turbo's engine failed today at Bruntingthorpe and although we don't yet know the ful prognosis, I must say it doesn't look good.

I actually believe that Tony's RST is a work of art and has taken many months of meticulous attention to detail on the part of him and Damo, not to mention the money he invested in a high spec engine, built and mapped by us at APT.

The interest shown on the 18 page restoration thread shows how many of you are truly interested in this car and sadly Tony hardly had a chance to enjoy it.

I'm afraid that if the news is bad, that Tony may strip the car and I for one don't want to see this happen.

So, Beccy and I want to donate £20 to the Tony Turbo RST Engine Rebuild Project.

I know that some of you may not agree with this approach, but we feel that £20 from us is a relatively small amount of money and may make a start to showing Tony that his car must remain in one piece and make a strong appearance on the Ford scene in 2005.

I dont want him to break it either, but due to all the money that has gone into that car, he might have to
Should make alot of money from it i should think.

Is it at the workshop then or his house?
The way it was going sat night is a credit to you and Gary, fooking awsome, allthough i did keep up with him in the bmw

would love to see this car breaking some records next year

tony's car does look a work of art. it CANNOT be stripped - would be criminal!!!

im way too tight to donate £20 as have financial difficulties myself but would support this approach if it means his car is kept in one piece!

I'd like to know what happened. It's on steel rods isnt it? They should be ok. Might need new turbo/piston/couple of valves? Thats not the end of the world....

He cant brake the car!!! Even if he cant have a full engine rebuild and enjoy what he had from it, surely just dropping a boggo decent SH 1.6CVH in it has GOT to be better than breaking it!!!

Wouldnt of thought it would have anything to do with the internals themselves, maybe just an ancillary like a injector or something failed.

To be honest, I didn't want to get into the nitty gritty of reasons for failure, we all know possible causes.

The bottom line is that no-one intended this to happen. It could have easily been an Injector Failure, Spark Plug failure, Fuel Pump Failure, the list goes on.

I know how I would be feeling right now and at a time like this I would hope to be able to rely on my friends.

Firstly, You are a brave man Christian.... BUT you have a point, obvioulsy a few of us have spoken to Tony at great length today.... Breaking the car HAS been discussed a few times. Depending on diagnosis this week I believe..

Secondly, Funnily enough I actually have already made an offer to Tony, today before we left Brunters. He knows what that was. I was actually being kinda serious mate.... honestly.

Thirdly, As per Benn, this thread could VERY easily turn to shit.. Can I ask PLEASE... If you dont want to put anything in, thats fine, NOBODY expects ANYBODY to, I'm sure......

Having been there and done that this time last year Tony, all I can say is get it fixed! If you break the car you will regret it, there's no doubt!! My car had only been set-up 2 weeks before the event and the fuelling was rich if anything!

How much does a running standard RST lump cost? Buy one and get the car running using some of your uprated ancillaries whilst you decide what to do with the big power engine!

It probably isn't as bad as you think - a lot of the engine should be salvageable. My engine melted as much as they possibly can do at Brunters flat out in 4th, and it could have been fixed with a re-bore, pistons (can't change just one!) and 2 new valves. The head will look a mess but it all cleans up fine.

Also make sure you find the cause of death, if only to put your mind at rest!

The enjoyment i got from Tony's restoration thread alone is worth £20 to me so count me in.

Chin up Tony, i know how much you wanted this day to go well and the effort and love youve put into this car, and i remember what the last disaster did to your morale too........
