True theres always some grey area, but generaly this is the problem when you want to be the best and most people DONT!

TT you a top bloke for doing this, but dont get downhearted! Think about the problems Matin H, Porkie, Sean have had playing with fast cars and pushing the bondries. DONT GIVE UP!

Ranj, I believe Karl said he would inspect Dan's dead engine for free as he was inquisitive as to how his dyno sheet looked like it did

tony hasnt asked for anything, christian has asked if anyone has any spare change, now to me i think that tonys car is worth keeping, but its hard when ya car ya just spent all ya money on died, thats the part i hate as if it happened to me it would be a right downer

same with jim, he spent all his money getting a pro to do it and the car goes up in flames, i felt for him too

now if tony had the car for months ect then i prob wouldnt feel the same

but at the moment i feel it worth it and also his resto thread gave me a good insite into erst resotration and also the parts that fail that ya may not notice

for that i feel a score is worth it

im sure when martins car had issues there was a post for help to tow his car, its all about looking after all of us

since a few have helped jim, jim has helped others too, when grant done his diff a few offered to help him

its nice to help people, its not charity, its mates

but never the less most buliders/mappers would help out on an engine that blew with so little miles surely?
A good point Phil. Care to ring Paul hills and remind him?

LOL @ No warranty because it runs 2 bar.

That's like an structural engineer/architect saying "Yes I will design you the worlds tallest tower, but because it's really tall I can't guarantee that it won't fall over!"

For professional negligence you are judged against the average skill of that profession. Failure to meet that standard is classified as negligence!

This is all theoretical APT have proved time and time again that they can do the business, but if the engine failured when performing its designed task and the failure was down to bad mapping/incorrect specification of parts etc then the tuner would be liable!

I sure did Phil. And was promptly refused!

With my scenario, I drove my car on the first test drive and as soon as I pressed the throttle ..... at 6000rpm........ bang! So he fixed it .....with a little financial help from me at his request!! Then I picked it up and drove home at no more than 3500 rpm.... then on my 1st attempt at non legal speed.... at 6000rpm .....bang!

No difference there. And no offer to fix it. Without me paying a lot of money. So if the "if it breaks, tuner/builder/mapper" will fix it!" rule applies to one tuner, surely it applies to all? Paul awaits your suggestion to pay for my engine!

I was gutted for tony yesterday i know what it feels like having done a few things in the past BUT we all know what were doin going to brunters no matter how good something is mechanical things do and will go wrong its the chance we take doing these days and shoot outs no one makes you go flat out for 1.5 miles if it busts you have to be prepared for this otherwise dont do it.
Hope you get it sorted soon , if you were running on the road i guess you would never see the same stresses even on track days flat out held boost for this long can cause problems on the best cars ,this is all too apparent from the past 2 days.
Even after that i will be there again maybe not the fastest but havin a balst as thats what we build our cars for well i do anyways if she blows she blows you have to fix it.
All IMO if i have any bits you may need ask,cos i got loads

Negligence and guarantee are not the same thing.

You enter a contract at the point of build, if the tuner does not offer a guarantee then there isnt one! I doubt you will find a tuner who will. There is ABSOLUTLY NO POINT in compairing a small tuning company with a multinational corporation who build sky-scrapers!

immy where was u when i said this?????????????
this is how rumors start
my acutal words to sean and zoo lot was if the engine is scrap i stripping the car and modding it as planed wrc rear wishbones new gearbox and stuff
if it was just a case of head or valve train then i would of fixed it for 2days shootoutat brunters then strip the car to do more mods after
the car was never going to be broken for spares

This thread has gone too in depth and reading beyond what was asked...

Christian is purely asking people if they would be prepared to see anyone donate £20.00 into keeping this memorable car alive and kicking the way it was intended - nothing else mentioned anywhere!

I would love to donate £20.00 but as my own car is causing so many problems recently, I need all the money I can to keep my own on the road - I am literally on the border of keeping it or selling it

I can no longer afford problems with the car

p.s my above statement applies to 90% of this website, limited budgets...

this was well before the engine let go

James Raby, spot on, a big thumbs up to all that have donated but as for "keeping this memorable car as it should be" not putting his car down i am sure its outstanding but its hardly got heritage as an ex wrc championship winning car has it

Really bad news tony, so unlucky mate, but you can't just ask for everyone to donate money like this.

I understand that your saying its mates helping mates out but your not exactly ringing round asking. hes already got the best rst out there and now your asking us all to give him more money to make it even better, what about the rest of us struggling to get by and modify our cars. i'd fucking love my turbo to be as good as tonys but you don't see me or my mates asking for handouts.
he should just put a cheap engine in for now and save up if he really wants to be the best at the shows.

stu i don't think you should be deleting posts just because you don't agree with them, its a public board, everyone has te right their own opinon

I think if you have a problem with the idea then you should Pm Christian/your shrink about it and not ruin a perfectly well natured post.

DannyC, notice Tony hasn't even posted on this thread or made any comments about the idea, so why put him down like you do?

Phil, I believe this was a generalised comment - not directed at Tony
I also don't see anything well natured on this post (apart from first page), just a dig at APT

DannyC why dont you just fuck off you Cunt, your post is not wanted now be a good prick and delete it.

I just had a long conversation with Tony on the phone. He is still pretty down about it all, but is really glad people do not want to see it broken for bits, and so am I. He is still unsure though to what to do with it after all the bad luck he says he has with it.

After a chat with APT today it is now pretty clear what went wrong and why, I will leave him to tell you that if and when he is ready. He has asked me to say though that is NOT down to bad mapping as opposed to what most people would instantly think.

He is really grateful for 90% of the words said, and is over whelmed that people are prepared to donate money to the rebuild (if there is one), but has asked me to say that it is not necessary. It is down to him to sort out what he wants to do, if anything, so thank you very much for the gesture.

He also says thankyou to those who texted and rung him today too and asked how things are, he is keeping a bit of a low profile at the moment while he decides what to do.

Why not just throw a 2nd hand rst lump in for now happy cars going again

Then rebuild yours when you got the cash.

Not being funny but peeps have not got money to throw away to mod someones else engine.

why not ask peeps to donate parts to get it going again loads of peeps got parts lieing around doing nothing would be more than happy to give you them you could have it going again in a week then rebuild when you got time and the money.

Just read Tony`s resto thread, all 19 pages of it, not many threads have that amount of replies!! This car simply should not be broken, the craft that has went into this car is awesome. If my car was half the car this was I would be well happy. TT dont rush into anything mate, let things settle down and see what you want to do.

That resto thread has inspired me to sort my car out once and for all. If this needs my £20 or whatever no probs, you have it. For me the resto pics was worth that cost cause its give me a few ideas. Cheers mate.
